What exactly did he do wrong at PSACs? Run through the 200 in 33 seconds in the mile while the field jogged, then settled into a rythm and once Robinson went he chased hoping to catching him over the final 200 in a sprint. What about the 3k? He followed Monroe for as long as he could until Monroe gapped him. I don't see where he ran bad tactically in either race. Everybody in the Conference but Monroe or Robinson would have been happy with his performances.

So he lead through 3 miles at regionals and made a gap large enough to secure third and help his team qualify for nationals. What exactly did he do wrong?

The kid ran 4:11 flat track mile which is worth 8:20 for 3k. So he went out at 2-3 seconds faster at 800 than he was capable of running and didn't feel great and ran slower. I bet you never ran a race where you ran 3 seconds fast through 800 of a 3k/2mile.

Did I also forget to mention that his first 400m was 62?

He is a terrible racer he goes out faster than people who are much better than him right now and then gets stomped

What's wrong with him?? If you are a guy with PRs in the low 8s and high 23s why would you ever want to make a mile an honest race and a race about strength?

He should have gone out in 65 and let all the 4:17-20 guys hang around so he had a better chanced to get boxed.

And even if he did this in the 3k (I didn't take splits on him), he may just be more comfortable thinning things out a little bit and clearing out the clutter.

Who's beaten him since he's arrived? Dinzeo, Robinson, Monroe.. that's it. Those are the kids in the PSAC that have beaten him in a race that matters.

I'm all for calling people out when they do something stupid but the runner-up & runner-up double with a trip to nationals; maybe we should realize he's doing what works for him and he's working his way back to being what he was at Virginia Tech.

You can be a stupid racer and still make nationals. It means the kid has talent but no tactics.

I am not sure I will ever understand some of the posters on this thread. Mr. Burliegh did a pretty nice job in both his races. Not sure how many of you realize he closed in 28+ in the mile. He ran Mike to the limit. Mike has more speed but Mr Burleigh gave it an excellent run. I was pretty impressed, quite honestly. He ran a solid 3000 til Monore gapped him and I think he ran soundly for second. As much as anything he helped his team absolutely dominate. HE is one of 3 distance guys to Make it to the NCAA meet. So I don't think some of you should be so critical. I hope he and Alex and Mike all make All American and you all should too.

2002 Outdoor the PSAC went 1-2-3 in the men's javelin. IUP, IUP, LHU. The LHU athlete won the javelin the next two years.

A quick comment on the mile race. Burleigh's race simply shows that waiting to pounce the last 400 only works if you are the best kicker in the field. Burleigh wasn't, he was actually 4th fastest the last 200.

He has been criticized for going out faster than better runners when that strategy is likely his only chance at victory. It isn't going to work very often, but when it does he wins, when it doesn't he gets 2nd or 3rd. Brayden Burleigh races to win, even when he isn't the best athlete in the race. It's probably poor strategy, especially if you are the #50 seed. However, on occasion it is a chance worth taking, the payoff is obviously worth the risk.

For anyone who did see the race, it looked as though Mike was going to catch and pass Brayden but looked like he somehow tripped on the last stretch throwing off all the momentum Mike had going into the final stretch..either way, it was a fine race by both men, and very deserving. Congratulations to all who competed this weekend!

I had written an 8 paragraph breakdown of the race, covering the last 1000m and the decisions that changed the outcome of the race for both athletes, but it seemed excessive.

Robinson was far faster the last 300m and a combination of the stumble in the latter half of the last turn and Burleigh's slide to the outside of lane 1 coming off the turn seemed to end any chance for a Robinson victory. The final straight, he never redirected to go around Burleigh, he actually looked around and eased across in 2nd place.

BREAKING PSAC NEWS FROM NEW JERSEY:

After a 3 year debacle that almost led to retirement from the sport overall, it appears as if Josh Neyhart's appeal for a 5th year of eligibility has been officially granted - giving him an extra season to compete at the NCAA level in each of the 3 sports - cross country, indoor, and outdoor track. The appeal was granted based upon a technicality involving an incident that happened during Neyhart's original freshman year.

Neyhart, who is currently competing for the Garden State Track Club, was ecstatic about the ruling.

"It's about time justice is served." Neyhart said with a smirk on his face in an interview on Monday.

When asked about the affect that his return will have on the PSAC, Neyhart was not coy with his response.

"I'm the (expletive deleted) best, it's as simple as that."

Neyhart continued, "It's time for a new generation of PSACers to be introduced to my greatness. I'll see all of you little (expletive deleted) on the course in the fall. #Ship".

It is reported that Neyhart will be enrolling in Shippensburg's undergraduate program for fashion merchandising. Neither Shippensburg University nor coach Steve Spence could be reached for comment.

Brayden ran one hell of race, I'll tell you that much! He made a ballsie move and it really paid off for him. I have a lot of respect for him and was happy to see him win. Coming off that turn, he just executed and navigated it better than I did and he came out on top. I was so elated to see the PSAC go 1-2 in that race. I look forward to future races with Brayden!
