Kenenisa Bekele: how soon will he totally annihilate the distance WR's?

I agree that the second point was really lame and right up there with the EPO claims, but the first point seems to have merit. If I remember correctly, I think KB said that he wouldn't be doubling this year, and it's a pattern at that. This pattern seems to be a bit tiresome.

who cares about the length of a thread, I'm stating my opinion and its obivious you disagreed with it and that is your right. I'm not saying that is the case but it is a possiblity and his previous performances have nothing to do with his tactics. Is that not possible -or- do you think no elite athlete have ever lost on purpose? Kenenisa employ psychological tactics the last two championships saying:

1st: I don't know if I'm in shape to double and did so convincingly

2nd: the federation may not chose me for both events (after the Ethiopian federation had released its roster).

NOT saying that it is a fact that Kenenisa lost indoors on purpose (but its possible) to throw off Eliud Kipchoge who initially stated he would beat Kenenisa and the Kenyan team had a plan! His indoor defeats may have been in earnest but Kenenisa will continue to employ psychologicl tactics in Championship years even if thats not the case this time.

So, no, I have never heard nor do I ever hope to hear of an elite athlete losing on purpose, with the possible exception of scandals like the Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Black Sox in baseball.

The Ethiopian federation is actually quite a harmful entity at time for its athletes, being the originating force behind such brain failures as pressuring Haile Gebrselassie to race a 10K in spikes with a ruptured Achilles.

You would be surprised what they are responsible for having a youngster like Bekele do.

That whole Waterloo quote was discredited by Kipchoge himself.

And I retain my original question; where did the idea ever originate in your head that Bekele lost on purpose?

His only two races have been in the face of unspeakable tragedy.

He has not prepared to run at a world class level recently. He lost to genuinely talented competitors.

He may have recovered from his knee injury but he may not be physically, i.e training-wise, ready to take the challenge in a short amount of time.
