Since this has become political... We moved our start-up to Sweden because it is a much better place to do business than the US. Running and funding a tech start-up in the old USA has become a royal pain for a lot of reasons... We sold out for $75m, so it's not exactly like you can't make a buck in old socialist (sarcastically) Europa.

I want to know more about this claim to have climbed the 40 fourteeners. Did Ryan actually say this or was it just the guy (who is in love with him, apparently) who wrote that editorial in the Denver Post? Could have been a typo. I could believe he climbed 4 of them, but 40 should be easy to disprove.
BTW, I ran Humpy's the year Sarah Palin did. It took me a minute to cross the start line and I started in the back. I don't think they used chip timing that year.

Sounds like he really said it, and the other guy was rounding up from 38 to 40. Wonder if the number started lower and he just kept raising it with each stump speech?

In the interview, Ryan says "Yeah, I was fast..." after the interviewer says "Holy cow" about his 2:55.
If you ran 3:55, you might not remember the exact time, but you would certainly remember that you got beat by a bunch of sorority girls with muffin tops, old guys who can't bend their knees, soccer moms who wave the whole way, etc.
This guy has tipped a card that reveals a lot about himself. Willing to sell you anything you'll buy, as long as you're dumb enough.
Claiming 38 summits is actually less plausible than running two-fifty-something in my opinion. Many of them are walk-ups but it still takes several summers of weekends to notch that many successful attempts. Some are climbable in winter but the approaches are often longer and it isn't near as easy to string together doubles and triples. Not to mention that after summiting the first 27 you realize how similar the terrain above tree-line can be and the motivation to hurry up the other 27 becomes quite a bit less urgent.
