Next up: Chunko getting out the old pumpkin suit to for the haunted meet. Do you think he'll actually walk around the course this time or sit on one of the chairs from the checkin table.
Fantastic for him, almost 40 with multiple injury setbacks, he has an outside shot at the trials if he stays healthy but he definitely can easily get the masters American record I think
Of course Rupp is past his Prime but I don’t think he’s completely off from a possible PB in the marathon I think if he can stay healthy the next year or two and BUILD on this run I still believe in Rupp running 2:06 or better. We have to remember this is the marathon not the 5 or 10k. I’m a big fan of Rupp because to me he is the pioneer for American men believing they can compete with the Africans.
all things considered injuries age etc, Rupp had a great race today. I wouldn’t count him out.
2:09 ( basically 2:10 in reality) is far from 2:06 that he ran for his PR, it's awesome to see get a sun 2:10 but it is extremely unlikely with all the injuries and being less than a year from 40 to PR again. History is against him, would be amazing if he somehow PR'd, but it is very wishful thinking. As I said he now has an outside shot at the trials IF he stays healthy so let's just enjoy the performance he put up and not get ahead of ourselves.
You and the Rossi idiot need to start your own thread.
Get a grip, hotshot.
I was responding to a post that compared Mantz to Rupp, in terms of big races won (or medals). I noted that Mantz's biggest win was gifted to him for $, and that matters.
If you have a problem with that reality, get help.
Other than that, as I said, I root for Mantz and hope he gets faster and faster and wins big races and medals.

He turns 40 in May 2026 and I doubt he'll ever run 2:06:00 but I'd be delighted if I were wrong. Goat for me. 26:44/10,000 is monster territory.
What did the other Americans run? Clinger? Thompson? Stellar result for Rupp building back from injury.
Really on the struggle bus. There were some indications out of camp that Aidan Troutner was the strongest of the debutants and he was today that's for sure. I really did not think they would fade like they did, but it is what it is.
Creed Thompson and Emily Venters look like they won't finish. Clinger finished in 2:16. Troutner finished in 2:10, which is not a good time it's just indicative of his comparative strength/ability to hold a pace.
Aubrey Frentheway looks like she'll hold onto a win over Makenna Myler but she's not going to beat her PR despite today's conditions being much better than Grandma's. Disappointing day but I think that sometimes experience is the best teacher and they will get better.

If he sticks around in decent shape for the next few years, he could pull off a Meb-style victory somewhere and at some point
