Running the conservative race only worked because of the race Sullivan ran. It meant that most of the African pack that chased Sullivan blew up.

If Sullivan doesn't run her race she probably gets dropped when the leaders surge later on.

Too much bs from the UK not sending full teams because they don't think they'll medal. Great choice by her to run for Uraguay and show the UK how stupid that strategy is. Send all qualified athletes period. Why would she take her chances with stupid UK politics.

So why was the protest denied for the water bottles? Sure the gain is negligible in all likelihood and the end of the race was epic, but what is the point of having rules if you choose to not enforce them?

Koech probably should not be sent through. He cut in too early without proper space, impeding the runner who ended up clipping him from behind. At best it is a judgement call. But its definitely more than 50% Koech's fault. He should be out if there is any integrity left in the sport.

He was dreadful all race, let’s be honest. Would’ve run 1540 meters, and full of unnecessary moves. They shouldn’t have pre-selected him in retrospect. Brian Komen deserved a fair chance, and the Kenyan Trials was a fair test and the experience Phanuel needed more. I suspect their date change put them in a bind.
