Tough to live in that area with that salary. Financial best practices say not to spend more than 30% of income on rent/mortage. Lets say you made the most listed ~58000, that would be about $1500 a month...good luck finding something reasonable there for that. Hope whoever takes it is either single and can live like it or has a spouse that makes a lot.
A lot of you are showing your lack of financial wherewithal if you can’t figure out how to live off of that salary… nobody’s saying it’s luxurious, but it’s very manageable.
Seems like they need to have two different ncaa meets. One for the local kids that the fans can relate to and one for the fans that only care about elite performances and don’t care who produces them or from where.
Yeah just when Americans have finally figured out how to compete at the world level against the likes of kenya, Ethiopia, etc. you want us to set ourselves back 20 years? You really want us to go back to the 90s were we thought 50 miles a week was mileage and running 13:20 for 5k meant something. Where only 1 US man broke 13 for 5k and we thought he was a God.
No, get the tampon out your ass and stop crying because competing in the NCAA is a privilege it’s not gonna be handed to anyone. Sure, should we try to stop a 27 year old from competing in the NCAA absolutely. But you can’t sit here and act like having internationals in the system hasn’t been great for US running. Besides, tell me which top international runners competed in the NCAA….. exactly. Jacob? Girma? Aregawi? No.
who has the top 5k time in the world this year? Grant Mf fisher. End of discussion
Funny how noone cared that byu was way older than everyone else, but now that its africans sudenly y’all check ids and have a problem w it
Is there no chance Lagat is promoted from within? Hard to imagine firing an American legend like that, especially one that's been coaching there for quite a while. Ran within the (original) conference, and surely can attract talent with his credentials. Good chance previous head coach wasn't giving him scholarship money to work with, which would explain the lack of success to the standards most would have for him. Also, I know LetsRun users are impossible to please, but he's actually gotten some decent results over the years. Don't think it would be a terrible choice, and surely they at least let him interview for it, no?
I heard that there’s a sprints/hurdles assistant job coming open at TN Tech
& what happened to the distance job at chattanooga? was that head xc / track or just xc? haven’t seen a hire announcement yet
Must have missed the cut buddy, there were posts in here about people who made the list of finalists for interviews last month. Likely an official hire announcement coming any day at this point. Could be a sleeper opportunity for someone with how easy it would be to recruit distance runners to the “Scenic City”. *cue the Brosnan to UT-C rumors*
if that’s what your looking for, you got the wrong thread
sarcasm
anyone have info on Angelo state? says any event group, are they really just looking for anyone or do they have something specific in mind with the role

lol, this thread is going exactly how it always does. coach retires or takes a new job or leaves / an opening is posted… cue the slinging mud on the coach, a bunch of LR users claiming they have the formula to success, bunch of speculation, clamoring for certain people to get the job, etc. the much simpler answer may just be two straightforward ideas: one is that it’s a competitive industry so naturally there will constantly be change, and two is that more and more people are leaving college athletics due to NIL, revenue sharing, overworked, underpaid, etc. in favor of actual stable income commensurate with their abilities and time investment, a steadier clock in / clock out schedule without constant travel and recruiting calls, and just an overall more enjoyable lifestyle. i loved coaching, did it for over a decade, but once i left it for a sales job my qualify of life has skyrocketed, and it’s getting harder and harder to justify staying in the profession. especially with the constant complaining from athletes, parents, administration, and LR users (last one is only partially tongue in cheek… we’re the most guilty of bashing people we don’t even know anything about. the inherent nature of these message boards).
This is a complete rebuild, could be a really good spot to start something great, school is in healthy shape, the ODAC is a good conference, they do have a facility on campus, campus has 3 miles of running trails, VB is a great place to live!

OK. So why be on here then if you’re not interested in jobs? I get what you’re saying, but if you’re so happy you left then why care enough to still be checking and posting on here?

apologies, didn’t mean to hijack. just came across the thread and offered my two cents. happy job hunting to you all, it’s a rewarding profession when you’re truly passionate about it and find the right environment for yourself. all the best.

Highly unlikely with a budget of $80k/year for the entire program

People complained, and still complain, about BYU all the time for being old.
But people also recognize the difference between serving on a mission trip for 1-2 years versus being a pro athlete in Kenya for 8 years yet somehow still coming in as a 25 year old freshmen.

Last month the announcement wasn’t for finalist. It was because the assistant AD emailed some gauging their interest but they hadn’t conducted interviews yet
