1) Jesuit. Won the merge last year, only 1 senior graduated. Could be top 5 at nationals, maybe better.
2) Beckman. Won the Clovis invite last year. Didn’t perform their best at state, but they return a 9:24 3200 average. They lost 4 varsity seniors, but Syed (9:22) and Barajas (9:30) are looking to be difference makers as Beckman reloads.
3) Matilda Torres. Took 4th in the state meet merge last year. Returning 3200 times are not the best, but I can see them peaking when it counts.
4) Mira Costa. Returns the best 1600 times besides Jesuit, but how well can this translate to XC?
5) Woodbridge. Returns their entire squad from last year. 9:27 3200 average and they have a very solid top 3 up front (9:05, 9:15, 9:20).
6) San Clemente. Outstanding program and coaching. This program has had high NXN finishes in the past. They managed to qualify for the state meet from a tough section even after losing their 1-6. They return everyone from last year.
7) Redondo Union. Took 8th in the state meet merge last year. They lose 4 seniors but they still return 3 guys from the state meet 16:00 and under (including one of the best incoming sophomores in the state), and 2 other guys who ran a 4:22 and 4:25.
8) Vacaville. Returns a 9:33 3200 average and will be a young team.
9) Campolindo. Took 13th at the state meet merge and returns 5 of their top 6. Looking to be the D3 state champs.
10) Mountain View (CC). 17th in the merge at the state meet and they return 5 of their top 6.
Mountain View is getting two 8th graders that run 4:30 and 4:35 respectively
Those two new freshman went 1/2 at the Lowell Invitational Freshman heat. Mt View future looks very bright.
Dang Clovis North starting off hottt. Would have been cool to see Lott and Clovis north at Woodbridge but there is also Clovis coming up
Clovis North has a special team for the program this year. They were young last year, and lots of depth and senior-heavy this year with likely the best individual in the state
Erm actually, it isn't a 20 second conversion. The course was 2.78! It's more likely to be a 1 minute conversion, possibly even 1:02. Conor Lott's time was more than likely to be closer to 14:50-14:55 converted. Lets do our math correctly!
I got scared, i thought california got fast for a second! #ColoradoFTW

You should be scared California runners are fast.
You really think other regions are scared of California runners because they are fast??
There is a reason nobody talks about California on the nxn thread anymore. It’s because it’s embarrassing as a fan, to hype up our region that was 11th, 15th, 17th at nxn.
There was also only 1 runner in the top 20 of the final rankings. We are most definitely not fast.
The Colorado state or the Utah state would very easily be able to solo the California region individuals and teams.

I remember the glory days when people would hype up California because Newbury park and great oak made us look great. It was a lot of fun to call other regions overrated. That is all in the past now.

The most relevant topic related to CA in the NXN thread is how CA shouldn’t receive an at large berth. It was definitely a ball drop to send three CA boys teams to NXN last year

Ok, but they have to face top tier teams for 5 consecutive weeks before NXN. Then the playing field will be equal.
Also reread what I posted, do you see the word team or teams. Learn the difference between the word you and team.
Good point! I remember some in the T&F thread doubting if it were really Syed in that race. I don't know how his training had been going, but based on his results before that, and the scream of joy as he crossed the line in that 3200, I think he'd been training well but struggling in races. If he's figured out how to translate that he could be dangerous come November. Notable that Beckman's #1 (Barris) and #2 (Weber) from xc league last year were their #3 and #4 this weekend, I feel confident those four will be interchangeable week to week. Also, their #6 is a sophomore who doesn't appear to have run before, at least from what I can find in a quick Google search
oakdale is going to be weak this year Beyer has all returners they have the shot to win d3 sections
I'd give Beyer the advantage heading in, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Oakdale beat them as state. Some of those Oakdale kids are on a great trajectory and will have really good times by their senior year. If Beyer's going to do it, this will be the year because Oakdale is so young and I'm not sure Beyer will get another chance anytime soon. And, having said that, I would lean towards Oakdale if Parker hadn't moved.

Agreed this is Beyers Year to do it they have some young talent but next year will be pretty big dip in talent for a year or two but Jon Olsen is in incredible coach we will see, They received a Transfer over the summer nothing special ran 4:45 as a junior but could help change things up

Franco did compete last year, just not for the school
