it comes across as arrogant tbh. There underestimating the competition this year similar to how other regions are underestimating california
LOL this is like those CBA guys / fans saturating the NXN thread last week saying they’re better than every team in the country
In yesterday’s race, Jesuit had only 1 senior in the varsity race so next year they will be insane. However, they were missing a senior who was top 5 for them every meet this year.
Matilda Torres 5k: Hannah 14:58, Fernandez 15:30, Felix-Andrade 15:39, Soito 15:50, Ramirez 16:21, Santiago 16:28, Macias 16:33. They def look solid for a DIII State Title. 3 seniors, 3 Juniors, and a Freshman. Maybe an NxN bid in 2025
There are lots of teams that will be really good in 2025 because many top teams this year are young unlike last year.
Stefanopolulus won the Ed Sias invite in 9:58, with Jack Rattary (College Park) right behind at 10:05. Ed Sias is a tough two mile course, running sub 10 on the course is pretty insane. Only guy before Aydon who was able to do it was Cooper Teare. Also be on the look out for Kim Dyst invitational tonight, this may be Broen Holman’s race debut. Kim Dyst is a 5k race on a golf course. Holman ran 14:48 there last season, let see what he can do tn. I’d also like to see if Oscar Angel (Manteca) can break 15 tonight too.
Stefanopulus has taken a massive step up this year. His 14:29 last week was nuts - the North Monterey course is legit stuff. 9:58 at Ed Sias is amazing.
I agree, it's quite possible that his track injury helped him reset and dedicate himself to being fresh for his XC season. We've seen before many athletes make a big jump in performances after an injury.
This is on the Sac Joaquin Section course, from my experience racing on the course- it’s quite a hard and hilly course. Woodward and Willow Hills are both 5k courses, but I’d say you be about 30 seconds faster on Woodward than Willow Hills- that explains the slower times. However, there have been quite impressive times on that course but they have come from legit guys such as German Fernandez, Luis Grijalva, and Michael Vernau
Also, does anyone know what happened to Andrew Burr (Sacramento Country Day)? Arguably one of the top returns in the Sac-Joaquin section alongside Broen Holman. He raced Sierra Invitational, was entered in Cool Breeze but didn’t race. Then suddenly isn’t listed as an individual in the Woodbridge sweepstakes race when he was previously listed.

He plays for his school soccer team at same time as xc. He took a bad slide tackle two weeks ago and other kid broke his tibia. He is in a cast for senior xc season.
Damn that is such a shame. I remember during my senior xc season when my mom would come watch my races and she’d always referred to Andrew (freshman at the time) “as the kid who dressed in karate.” I’d always update my mom sometimes update the dude’s progress. Was really rooting for the guy all season especially after his performance at RunningLane last track season. Hoping for a speedy recovery

Still got track season too
Apparently he has a website of his own and it says that he competes for his school’s ski, basketball, track, and tennis teams too. He must be lucky to be in programs that give him flexibility to do two or more HS sports during the same season.
I wonder if he is planning to run XC / track in college and if he is committed anywhere

Lucky or stupid? Look where it got him. Senior year is time to focus.

Maybe show some sympathy for a kid that just lost his season instead of bagging on him for being a multi sport athlete. I am sure he is already kicking himself and the pile on comment is gross.

I do feel bad for Burr. He should be racing right now. But to say it’s smart or lucky to have a school allow multiple sports within the same season is stupid and this is a perfect example.

I feel like people sleep on or don’t enough respect on NorCal xc. NorCal has produced a lot of amazing talent in the past years that kind of trump some of SoCal’s talent (not including Newberry).
