Interestingly enough as it stands, Ethiopia replaced her with F. Hailu which I agree with given how good her kick is. But it seems they're letting Aregawi double over inserting Telahun Bekele into the mix. That I don't quite get, but maybe Aregawi has volunteered to be a key part of team tactics in helping Kejlecha/Hagos get medals.
Not sure what Telahun is saying but got to feel bad for him having been so good this season
2021 doesn’t count or you just don’t want to bring that up because it ruins your argument? I’d contend Olympics count way more than World Championships as well and I think we are seeing athletes express that now. The 1500 is a crapshoot, JI has had about as high level of sustained excellence in the discipline as any of the all time greats.
The posts from the Ingebrigtsen lovers over the past few months claiming that he is the GOAT 1500 runner have been intolerable. Sure, it is possible that he might one day be the GOAT, but clearly it was too early in his career to make that claim. He had 1 win in a championship race that played to his strength, and a second place in a championship race that didn't.
I was hoping that at the very least the GOAT claims would go away for a while after another loss, but no, here are the same posters now talking about how his "sustained excellence in the discipline" is similar to the all time greats.
Similar to all time greats doesn’t mean he’s the GOAT you JAGALOON! Learn to read. If you don’t think JI can be considered near the best 1500 runners ever you’re in complete denial and know nothing about track. BTW, I can say that and not think he’s the GOAT! Because I’m a reasonable fan who is not biased unlike you. Your bias shows through in a big way.
Also, rojo joked about getting people to leave boulder to come to Baltimore - why would they want to leave a high elevation city in the US and a well run one to go to a hellhole with out of control violence?

How to Recognise Different Types of Trees From Quite a Long Way
Imagine what Jakob must be feeling. His problem is that he is now 0-for-2 with the target on his back. I wonder if he is reconsidering the notion that running from the front is his best option.
When have the Bills ever been as favored as Jakob to win a championship? Maybe against the Giants in 1991? This loss today was WAY more stunning than last year. Jakob was having one the greatest 1500 seasons of all time and really looked way more dominant and untouchable than last year. I am truly shocked, but that is why it is a sport, so good for T&F! I am trying to think of the most stunning result of the year across running. Is it this loss by Jakob, 2) Kipchoge's destruction at Boston, 3) Hassan's win in London? What are other candidates for the most shocking result in a major competition in 2023??
Laura Galvan's college PB was 16:30 (Kansas State). Somehow world class at age 31.
She also ran a 1630 as a 16 year old at moderate altitude in Mexico. At KS her focus was on getting a degree. Try getting a degree in a strange country without knowing the language very well.
I will say this - if Benjamin wants to ever beat Warholm he HAS TO START RACING. It sounds remedial but getting out there, practicing your craft, practicing being under pressure because you always have a target on your back matters.
When I heard Rai say earlier in the season he is only going to show up if "they pay me" (and I'm presuming this means what he thinks he is worth) I remember thinking to myself this guy is never going to beat Warholm when it matters.
Warholm this season ran 3 major DL meets over the hurdles and a bunch of other meets including his nationals. Benjamin this season ran the DL in Doha which was an easy win, Mt Sac and the US Nationals. Where is Benjamin in Monaco, Oslo etc?
To not even get silver tonight - big disappointment.
He gambled and lost with the style he raced yesterday it was first or nowhere but only one guy in the pack could catch him as he backed up.
What do people think the reasons are for Coburn's fall off? Just burn out from the years of training or something else?
Gettin old in a young person's event.
Where do older Steeplers go to keep competing?? They typically aren't world class distance athletes for the flat events so just moving up distances doesn't exactly work out because they weren't fast enough to start with. ... probably very good at trail running though.
Yeah, Steve Jones was eventually forced all the way up to the marathon. At the other end, middle-distance runners with no speed, like Kip Keino and Filbert Bayi, were forced into the steeple.

And Rodney Dangerfield thought he had it tough.
Oh, and Jenny Simpson retreated to the 1500.
(Sorry if someone else has mentioned any of this. But I'm not going to read the last 500 messages on this thread to find out.)
