2. That is very true in observing the actions of people online and at rallies and protests. Millions of Democrats and millions of Republicans very frequently speak and act in highly irrational ways. The tweet noted is one of the more innocuous partisan takes, actually.
3. Looking at the actions of the minority of one side and drawing conclusions about the entirety of that side is highly irrational.
4. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, among all major figures in American politics, there is one whose words and deeds most frequently appear alarming or even “deranged.” There are others who say and do irrational, questionable, and even deranged things. But no one else comes close. The choice to go after Powell is utterly deranged.
Not liking Powell is one thing. Waning someone else is one thing. There was a nomination and confirmation process, and his term expires in May. A president choosing a Fed Chair he prefers in May is reasonable. What is going on this week is not that.
