So, Mark Lewis responded to our comments in his typical egotistical way. As always, he uses poor attempts at humour to detract from criticism - Floberg also does this.
He explains why he no longer runs - thinking people care. In doing so, he manages to drop in that he lives in a cottage with 10 acres of land, the same size as the entire housing estate he used to live on. Also, he claims the neurodiverse badge of honour (Philly and Fordy would be proud).
Glad he's out of the running world -- even though it's a total cop out. I do wonder how much longer people will tune in to watch his mid-life crisis boom and bust cycles of being in shape and then binge eating for months on end, leading to a reverse body transformation photo.
Saw his video today, and I’m a bigger fan than ever. I’ve always liked him and his style.

This video is going to look a bit silly when the inevitable "So I accidentally entered an ultramarathon?" video drops next year when the viewership gets bored of garage gym clips.
One thing about letsrun is that I like to think everybody who comes here actually likes to run (if they physically still can) even if say their best racing days are behind them. Clearly some don't like running like we do!
Some people like running their mouths off about other runners lol.
I've enjoyed Seth back posting content, even if he did bail again on a long fkt attempt. He does longer training runs so assuming accident worthy of stopping.
Keely Hodgkinson is entering the fray. She hasn't uploaded a video yet but made an announcement of the channel on IG. First vlog will be after Diamond League Silesia this weekend so likely uploaded some time next week.
I???m Keely, a proud British track & field athlete, 800m Olympic champion, and current national record holder. ???? My life moves fast, both on and off the track. From fashion shoots and red carpets to training camps and race day adrenaline, I???m bringing you along for the ride. You???ll see the sweat, the style, and the sweet moments in between the wins, the challenges, and the chaos that makes it all worthwhile. Welcome to my world of speed, style, and a little sparkle. ???

He had the tiniest of scratches from the picture. I think he probably went out way too hard and bonked like crazy early because that’s just who he is.
Seth is the meticulous planner (video with multiple coolers, drop bags of gear) who always finds a way to self-sabotage. It a predictable performance art piece at this point. Methinks he fritters away energy trying to game every possible contingency and then is full of cortisol plus nerves on the day. That never leads to great performance.
Rinse and repeat! He will post a new video full of excuses. The DGR Family will console and praise him. Some rubes will send a donation. He will then start teasing some “big news” about fall racing (Spoiler Alert: Pikes Peak) and then pretend this failure never happened.
Has everyone ordered their Ben is Running socks? You’ll get featured on his instagram story so great chance to support running’s best influencer and pay his lovely girlfriends wages!
I just fast-forwarded through his last video, I don’t know why I find him so awful now. I think maybe YouTube “fame” has made him forget he’s a barista who films himself running at a non-elite level. Selling merchandise, socks, with his embarrassing catch phrase on them? Then spending the video doing the exact opposite of what he’s asking his slow witted followers to do - gleefully opening a bunch of FREE stuff he got? “You all spend money on terrible socks for my benefit because you get to enjoy watching me get free stuff that’s so much better than these lousy socks, cause I deserve it” Just so done with that guy.
where does BenIsBegging go in the next 2yrs? i cant bear to watch his dire content. his rented 1 bed house is a dump not big enough to swing a cat in yet alone set up a Zwift bike, the blokes never done a bike sesh in the gym yet as soon as he gets a freebie, hes the next Lance Armstrong.
boring vids of him training to hard, talking like hes a scientist when hes a coffee maker. the parkrun and club races used to be ok to watch. seeing him beg for free kit and go on pointless trips with other scavenegers to get some free shoes he will never wear again - nahhhhhh. always pleasing to see him do another marathon build up and fail when it counts

Where do any of these people go? They're one injury away from the dole queue.
Ben gets sent to Japan to run in the new shoe. 4 or 5 days of work for a video with about 10k views. He'd be better off working the checkouts in Asda.
It all sounds great, getting free stuff and all that but getting free shoes doesn't pay the bills, give you a pension, provide holiday or sick pay does it?
What is the future? I would be very worried if I was some of these guys because I guarantee they haven't a plan apart from run as much as possible for the likes

Parking personal opinions for just a moment.
I’ve worked in the industry for over 10 years and I’d predict that Ben earns anywhere from 100-200k a year currently.
It doesn’t always come down to followers but how they monetise, whilst Ben is missing quite a few potential income streams, he’s busy and adrove enough to quite easily hit 100k and beyond a year. I know of running creators hitting that, that are way less active and on the scene that Ben is.

Grifter - somewhat.
Earning well - somewhat.
Even if Ben is earning £100k a year he is supporting 2 people as his missus quit her job. No holiday pay, no sick pay, probably no savings. He is not "living it large" and probably both of them would be better off with "proper" jobs. Probably working less hours too
Absolutely buzzing to see that new notification on my phone - ‘2:24 marathoner tries cycling FTP Test (shock result!) ‘
Very excited to see what the shock is now. Hope he does amazingly.
I knew he was quick but didn’t realise he has done a 2:24 marathon. That’s so fast especially for someone so young and new to running. Sub 2:10 isn’t a completely outlandish future goal

Wow, insane copium here. Is somebody a little bit jealous?

This is horrible advice. You only live once, and you never know when your time is up. Why waste it in some crappy job?
While I despise Ben and this insidious movement of influencer marketing, he’s doing very well. I know people with less of a following earning over £200k - not in running.
Ben is a product of university over-expansion in the UK. He probably earned a degree in geography from some unknown university. Rather than walking into a graduate role, he ended up working at Starbucks on minimum wage. His partner was working in fashion, which is full of pretenders, people doing free internships, and very low pay.
I would hazard a guess that even on the low estimate of his bland personal brand netting £100k, he and his partner are probably doubling their income. They could easily squirrel away money to cover the pension, sick and holiday pay they would get from the kind of jobs their capable of.
Compared to the alternative, they are living a great lifestyle. They probably know the market will die at some point. However, right now, he’s living a great life.
