Not just 40km a week, he runs about 30k of that in one run.
He must run once or twice for 5k at a time then review the shoe. He is a charlatan and a joker at coaching, running and reviewing shoes.
Sorry, I'm off to smash some "goal pace" in my long run
So more new shoes than runs a week? I don’t understand this mentality of only being interested in the shoes and not in improving your performance. Sure I like shoes as much as any runner but I’m far more bothered in my race times than trying as many shoes as possible and the nuances between different models. I’m sure I’m not alone here.
Fordy apparently "doesn't care about times". He doesn't run enough to get fitter
Plods around races and walks them in most of the time as he's so undertrained
Yes the volume of sponsor requests does get very regular. I took a few freebies back when the channel was smaller but in the end I completely cut out the “we will send you this product in exchange for content” because it’s more hassle than it’s worth… and actually the advertisers win more than the creator as they’ve basically got free marketing into their direct target audience for the cost of one of their products.
In the end it comes down to personal opinions…. I enjoy keeping my channel relatively ad free but will happily work with sponsors like I have before if they want to sponsor my training series. Reason being… they are sponsoring content I like to make for a race I chose and that I’m paying for myself. Their sponsorship gives me more flexibility with my work and it works on my terms. Plus it’s always an honour for a brand to want to represent you. And being honest, I’m always happy to see some creators get rewarded with a decent company sponsoring them for their training videos too.
I avoid sponsorships where I’m dictated too as to what I can and can’t post, what I am allowed to say, that’s a red flag for me. I don’t get all the big opportunities that some get, but I have been offered a couple of marathon major entries which I’ve turned down. Otherwise, it’s mainly small - medium stuff I get offered. It’s not as glamorous as people may think 😂
SJD ended his run at 30 mile with pictures of his legs being scratched up. I guess no Nolan's 14 this year. Will the master of pikes peak return to concur the mountain?

Where did you see this? I checked his YouTube & Instagram but all I saw he will not be posting any content for a few days (due to the 14ers)

He's overweight and always looks like coming directly from the pub spending the whole night there ... wouldn't surprise me if he'd be smoking a cigarette while "reviewing" shoes.
I listened to the podcast so you don't have to. Matt says he pleaded guilty and was given a suspended sentence. He wants you to know to not import cannabis to Japan because they have what he thinks are draconian drug laws, but at the same time he's upset with the media for saying he faced up to eight years in prison. He thinks that was sensationalizing things. His green card application is stuck in process and he blames the Trump Administration for that. (He also claims it has nothing to do with his recent drug smuggling conviction). He's stuck in Australia for the foreseeable future and is whining about the weather. His friend/lawyer who interviewed him ran a 5k. Matt did too, he ran 21:45. He also claims that there wasn't a single comment that wasn't supportive anywhere. I always thought the dude read Let's Run, but maybe he doesn't.

i read the transcript. After his weed shipment didn't arrive, he deliberated with ChatGPT about the legal ramifications for drug smuggling in Japan and found out they were severe. Instead of reaching out to a local lawyer and preemptively start working on a defense, he switched topics and had ChatGPT tweak one of his athletes training plans for the chicago marathon so they could improve from 3:53 to 2:58 in 14 weeks

I'm about halfway through. What an absolute imbecile, but that being said I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. I expected to laugh my head off listening to this but it's just really sad. He sounds like a broken man, wouldn't wish solitary confinement on my worst enemy.
How can one man hype himself so much and then nearly always fail in such spectacular fashion? Quit 30% in?! Give it up already!
This was an FKT and not a race. He can’t blame dudes with tree trunk legs or RDs posting deceptive topographical maps of their marathon course. I cannot wait for the incoming pride salve! Should be good after taking a few days to concoct a good tale of woe.
I am enjoying his content. Yes, he's jumping on the SUB-T hype train. Nonetheless, he does provide some good training insights. No s**t, just level headed, sane training.
If you're judging based on his half marathon PB, then it's impossible -- unless you're juicy Jake Dearden.
However, he's been running sub-3k threshold reps at 2:30 marathon pace or faster; I run them at a pace close to my recent marathon. He's also recently clocked a 32-minute 10k. I'd say there's a 50% chance he runs sub-2:35.
