The US position on the war and ceasefire is sounding like a Lionel Hutz argument from the Simpsons. Hegseth is now saying that the fighting over the Strait of Hormuz is a separate and distinct conflict from the prior combat that is on hold per the ceasefire agreement. So, fighting over the Strait is not a violation of the ceasefire. And it is an entirely new conflict that gets its own 60 days for the war powers authorization.
General Caine said that the attacks from Iran are below the threshold to restart combat operations. Trump was asked what from Iran would violate the ceasefire. His response was "you will find out."
Qeshm Island, the long island that sits on the northwest part of the Strait, is reporting missile strikes today. UAE is again getting missile and drone attacks from Iran.
There are again claims that Iran's leadership is split and that IRGC is conducting strikes on UAE without the consent of the political leadership.
It is still a slap fight given the amount of resources available to the US in the region. But for the US, it could be preliminary targeting for a larger operation. I think the Trump administration is just lost right now and is waiting for Iran to do something to justify restarting major combat operations. There is now an invisible bright line that is sometimes more like a squiggly line that will trigger a resumption of combat operations if Iran crosses the line (or crosses it and does not immediately step back or crosses it but the US then decides that the line was actually further out and Iran did not actually cross it).

Trump wants a deal simply to not look like a failure. And to move on to Cuba or something else. Iran sees no reason to give Trump a deal. Trump doesn't want to start bombing again because it will look like his ceasefire failed. Trump does not know how to do negotiations nor diplomacy, nor to build coalitions, nothing but flip flopping bluster.

TACO Tuesday
The Trump admin plan is to hold power. They believe that an active war gives them more support. So if this war ends, another will need to start. If that isn't enough and they see that losing is inevitable even after SCOTUS attempt to throw the midterm to republicans, Trump will declare a war power emergency and either send troops to polling locations or outright cancel elections. Trump has hinted at this and Hegseth is laying the groundwork by claiming Biden already did it (a lie), so Trump can too.
Iran is a byproduct of this attempt to hold power. Venezuela was a precursor to test if anyone would stop him. They failed the test. Iran war will either continue through midterms or a new war will take its place, maye another after that. Authoritarian playbook.

Rubio made it official today and declared that Operation Fury America F--k Yeah Big Tits Are Awesome has ended. Any new fighting would get a brand new name and not be subject to the war powers clock from Operation Fury. Next operation name is a coin toss between "Operation Eat a Bag of Dicks Ayatollah" and "Operation Jesus Christ Raining Hellfire Down on Your Fake Mohammed God".

Really? I thought Rubio and Vance were both running as far away as they could from this new forever war - their political futures depend on it

Rubio has to play along so Trump will next invade Cuba. It is kind of like when you were a kid and you had to go to your sister's dance recital in order to get to go to the arcade after and play Defender for a few hours.

TACO Tuesday
Look how you casually talk about the Iran war and invading Cuba with your TACO jokes. Normie Libs like you are just as bad as the MAGAtards because you will line up to vote for the next war mongering dem.
What's better than Cinco De Mayo falling on Taco Tuesday? Another Iran Lego drop of course. Project Freedom escorting/guiding ships didn't last long.
Taco Tuesday strikes again!
Project Freedom Fail 😂 Trump just tweeted: “Project Freedom has been terminated” Mission unsuccessful One day. That’s literally all it lasted. Persiaboi over here with second hand embarrassment watching this circus…NOT Iran warned you. Sacred Defense.#ProjectFreedomFail… pic.twitter.com/yYzLpHsF7O

trump is doing every single thing autocrats do when they plan to end democracies.
and the Republicans are 100% for it. Well, 90%.
For pete's sake, trump literally says we should suspend the constitution, throw out and suspend elections and let him run for an unconstitutional third term.
BTW, here's the story on the KC-135 that Iran claims they shot down. (another one) You won't hear about it on Faux News and the US denies it was shot down of course, just like they said their bases were not destroyed. These Lego videos have been spot on so if I were a betting man, I'd bet we are being lied to again and another plane went down with more US soldiers dead.
The Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, which acts as a 'flying gas station' for US military planes, issued a 7700 distress signal while flying over the Persian Gulf

So a long term operation to build on promises re the straits only gets two ships through and folds the next day?
The problem is that when iranians get internet they will see this incompetence, they will see the lack of suppptt fromnthe rest of the world due to rump not buildung support, and they will think the irgc have won and are unstoppable.

Orange man must rethink.
If there ever was any doubt that Trump has no plan and is making this up as he goes along, this should end that.
Hegesth and Caine do a full presser to help the American people understand we have a new military mission and what it is. Even explaining in detail so people can finally stop saying that Trump has no plan. Hours later Trump does a TACO on this very plan and shelves it indefinitely. (Or two weeks).
For what, the 6th time, W House and MSM announce they are near a deal with Iran and use this to rally market and sink oil prices. It's total fiction of course. Just market manipulation. Israel wants Iran destroyed and so there will be no deal
Blog post below is pretty amazing. But having some experience in the legal world with real estate developers, this is exactly what they do whenever there is a problem with a big development they are working on. Investors get mad at progress and start demanding inspection of books and records and send legal demands. The developer then says "hey, everything is going great and we are actually going to be ahead of schedule once the final permitting hurdle is cleared." Months go by and investors again want to know where their money is. The developer then says "hey, the weather was bad and one of the subcontractors screwed up and had to be fired, but we have a new guy on the job and we are back on schedule and under budget." Months go by and things are till behind and the project is bleeding money. The developer then says "hey, we have huge pre-leasing demand and this thing is going to make tons of money but the soil study was bad and we had to re-do the foundation. Everything is back on track but we need another $10 mil to finish the project."
Trump is running this conflict just like a real estate developer. He will say and do anything to get the heat off him to buy some more time in hopes that he can muddle through and get something done. He promises massive military strikes to keep the hawks off his back. He then says that there is a framework of a deal and the war will be over in a day or two to keep markets from crashing.
Iran Has 'Almost' Made a Deal With the U.S. Six Times. When the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, Brent crude was trading around $72 a barrel. Within weeks it was approaching $120. Two months on, with the Strait of Hormuz still functionally closed and negotiations going nowhere fast, prices have swung wildly on every headline — and traders are running out of optimism to price in. Here's how it's played out. February 28: The War Starts US and Israeli strikes kill Supreme Leader Khamenei and gut Iran's military infrastructure. Iran shuts the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation. Brent surges 51% in March alone — one of the largest single-month price jumps on record. The IEA calls it "the biggest energy security threat in history." Early April: The First 'Deal' On April 1, Trump claims Iran asked for a ceasefire. Iran calls the claim "false and baseless." Days later, after threatening to destroy Iran's "whole civilization," Trump backs off. On April 8, Pakistan brokers a two-week ceasefire, with Iran agreeing to reopen Hormuz. Markets exhale. Hours later, Iran's Lavan Island refinery and Sirri Island crude facilities are struck by what Tehran calls an "enemy attack." The strait doesn't reopen. April 11-12: Islamabad Talks Collapse Vance, Witkoff and Kushner fly to Islamabad. After 21 hours of talks, Vance walks out saying Iran refused US terms. Trump announces he "no longer cares about negotiations." On April 13, the US launches a naval blockade of Iranian ports. Brent climbs back toward $120. Mid-to-Late April: The Revolving Door April 15: Trump says he wants the war to end "swiftly." April 17: Iran briefly allows commercial vessels through Hormuz during a Lebanon ceasefire, then reimposed restrictions when the US refuses to lift its port blockade. April 19: Trump calls new Pakistan talks Iran's "last chance" and threatens to target power plants and bridges. Brent hits $126.41 on April 30, a four-year high, before pulling back to $114. May 1: Iran's Proposal, Trump's Rejection Iran sends an updated peace proposal to Pakistani mediators. Brent drops 2% to $108, WTI falls 3% to $101 on the news. Trump later says: "Iran wants to make a deal, but I'm not satisfied with it." May 5-6: Project Freedom, Then the Pause Trump launches "Project Freedom" — a Navy-led effort to escort stranded vessels through Hormuz. Iran attacks the UAE. Oil jumps 4% Monday, then falls 4% Tuesday after Hegseth confirms the ceasefire is "not over." Then on Tuesday night, Trump suspends Project Freedom citing "great progress" in talks. A Pakistani source tells Reuters that a one-page deal is close. Brent crashes 8.6% to $100.40, WTI drops 9.8% to $92.23 on Wednesday.
