History didn’t start on October 7. You’re using the same rationale Hamas uses. I can name countless massacres against Palestinians that Israel perpetrated in the 80 years before October 7.

The answer to your question that I put in bold is “one”. One thousand Israelis were killed on 10/7. And 100 thousand Palestinians, Lebanese and Iranians have been killed ever since. If not more. There’s no such thing as a justified genocide.

This US has not learned a darn thing from all of our wars since WW2. Almost all of them were much longer, much more expensive, more deadly, and more negatively impactful to the economy than the admins that started them originally claimed. Few achieved the stated goals. In this case, the stated goals have changed many times, yet there is still no progress toward them.

The Iran war is yet another useless quagmire to buoy a president with sinking approval who hopes that the people will rally with him against a foreign enemy. That, too is failing as his administration's incompetence is more clearly visible and they angrily attack anyone who calls them on it.

You are a complete idiot if you believe Israel would or should opt for a proportional response, given that they outnumbered 20:1. If Iran / Palestine / Lebanon had the capability, they wouldn’t either.
