The event showcased Eliud's amazing speed, endurance and running style partnered with performance enhancing tactics not allowed in a marathon makes a Sub 2 hour time in a 26.2 Mile run possible.
INEOS tried to oversell the legitimacy of the event to people making them think that this is super special one of a kind and deserves to be recognized as a World-Record by showing that it is equivalent to Usain Bolt's 100 meter, 9.58 seconds 2009 World Championship World Record done with in a competetive environment without prohibited tactics is absurd & unfair.
If Usain Bolt used a wind-machine just like Justin Gatlin to achieve that world 9.58 record then INEOS would be right that do that equivalent comparison and Eliud's INEOS performance can be a world record.
If that's the case then why should the World's fastest marathon runners in the world like Kenenisa Bekele, Legesa etc. waste their time and effort to train and try to break the world record in a marathon if their sponsors or a billion-dollar company / corporation could simply set up an event wherein they could use marathon-prohibited enhanced performance techniques to make a new world-record. That would make it easier for the athletes and they will be able to conserve a lot of energy than trying to do it in a regular marathon competition.
