People on here aren't interested in facts. Pretty soon someone will post that the FBI and Dallas Police are questioning Salazar regarding his whereabouts on December 22, 1963.

I'm just throwing this out there for solidarity with others who are denting their keyboards with their foreheads. This post represents perfectly why any agent, athlete, or employee associated with professional running does NOT need to address something started or perpetuated on letsrun. Almost every sentence in here is, to use Centro's words, categorically false. Good coaches don't read letsrun. Agents don't bother. Certainly most athletes don't. Centro doesn't have a "camp" and if he didn't use social media would probably be chilling with his friends unaware of this sht. And "absolutely perceived to be guilty" violates the basis of our judicial system.

A major US newspaper reporter and three other mainstream media reporters seem to believe this rumor has merit.

Clearly, a more definite rebuttal of this rumor is required.

I'm not sure how many of his followers know him personally but there are a couple at least in the below Twitter replys. So that is some social media support for Matt that has been asked for. I have no idea what it proves except that not everyone is accusing Matt of a positive test.

I can see how you want something more specific, but it simply is not true that he denied an adverse doping finding unless you want to give a different meaning to "dispel" or what the "ugly rumors" were.

The third post in the original CENTRO!! thread said "Centro tested positive. Hence why he hasn't raced as of late. Word will eventually leak out."

A few posts later someone said "Makes sense. Why has Centro suddenly dropped under the radar?"

On the second page someone posted "It's true. I shot a text to one of centros old teammates and he heard the same from reliable sources"

On the fourth page someone says "There is indeed word going around among my former teammates about Centro failing a drug test"

On the fifth page someone says "Just go some news that it's been 'confirmed'. Apparently he tested positive almost a week ago."

Those are the rumors he is addressing.

It's not until the 11th page of this thread (aka over 200 posts in) where anyone even raises the possibility he tested positive but is fighting it. That wasn't the original rumor that was posted on this thread. It is a later iteration of the rumor where it shifted to something like a passport test or an inferred positive test. Yet, you expect Centro to come back and specifically address every shape shifting form of these rumors instead of "categorically dispelling any ugly rumors?"

There are so many versions of what happened "ugly rumors" is more of a blanket statement. When the first 11 pages of the CENTRO!! thread focus on him failing a test and, as a result, not racing why does he then specifically have to address some other unsubstantiated theory that pops up 220+ posts into the thread?

The rumors are that he failed a test. The rumors are that he failed a test and that's why he wasn't racing. He categorically denied those rumors. In your mind he needs to be specific about every form of "ugly rumors" floating around?

His agent said it was all B.S. What else do you want? If he, or anyone else connected to Centro, puts out one statement after another with different language to suit every accusation and parsing of the language will only serve to fan the flames.

It's an unfortunate truth about public relations that the more an untruth is repeated the more people think it is true. Remember the whole Irag/WMDs thing?

He would have been on Xmas break ? At 5 years old just what would he be taking a break from ?

An agent's job is to maximize profits for the person they represent. Maximizing profits means more income for the agent. An agent has a vested interest in stories that might reflect badly on the person they represent. An agent has a skewed point of view based on their own personal self-interest.

I was expecting a reply like this.

Some say Centro must have failed a test since no one is coming to his defense on social media to support him.

I show evidence of people coming to his defense and supporting him and now you say it doesn't matter and compare him to Lance.

Regardless of what he says or does, or what his friends say or do, some on this thread are going to suspect him of failing a test.

This is exactly why Centro making a statement doesn't make a damn bit of difference. It also shows what kind of damage a thread like this can do to an individual athlete. There are those that will forever think of Matt as a drug cheat now.
