Wait wait wait...hold up. If longo is "hitting his stride" and oneonta had 12 or so people sub 27 this past weekend while plattsburgh had 4 how will that be close? And unless fredonia has epo in their new training I don't think they can find depth to hold off the pack oneonta has developed since indoor. Let's keep in mind this team had 6 guys sub 9 last track season and 6 guys sub 16 and they're pretty young so this isn't a fluke season either. Fredonia gets embarrassed at home by buff st and brockport and might as well throw in new paltz for fun

3-6 Could be anyone between Fredonia, Oneonta, Plattsburg and Buff State.

It's going to come down to who has the most depth and who can step up. I'd like to hear about Fredonia's secret training too.

the favoritism shown by the atlantic is just absurd (i didn't think anything could compare to the MW vs NE arguments from last year, but i was wrong) brimstein just placed 4th in a d3 only race that didn't include any other top 15 teams... oh and he lost by 40 SECONDS to a runner who isn't even being mentioned as a national champion threat! (tim nelson is the most dominant d3 runner since kosgei, no one is touching him this year)

Wait so you're telling me that just because Oneonta had a decent track season and one good 8k race(12 guys under sub 27) that they will be able to get 3rd at SUNYAC's??! Explain to me how that adds up bro? Remember we dealing with a team mostly made up of 800m guys.

Let's not forget that Oneonta almost lost to the RPI Alumni.

I love the Atlantic region thread! You guys always rag on the top team in your region and then when they do well at nationals you wait......then rag again the next season! Lol nice going Atlantic

a couple of things:

1. Fredonia already beat buff state and brockport at home and did so again this weekend, but as far as team's go for sunyacs 3-6 can go either way oneonta, brockport buff state, and fredonia, geneseo and cortland i think will end up 1 and 2

2. Geneseo does improve their athletes, but i'd like to see some other Atlantic Region school's athlete's improvement, be interesting to see what those percentages are. You also have to take into account some athletes trained harder in hs than others and possibly, lots of different factors you have to account for like anything in practice.

3. so was teh oberlin course short or not? the perfect weather and course conditiions plus the competition could certainly account for the fast times. still most likely alittle short. only time will tell right? hard to tell still even with a course like this, since its so flat, however everything would play out on an average xc course. which is why xc is great bc essentially times mean nothing unless you are in the same race.

damn that was a long post lol.

Name one person in oneontas top 7 and one other person after Haskins that is an 800 runner...and name one other team other than geneseo who has had people run 25:30 on an actual 8k course...

Geneseo is unanimous for first in the AR (duh); NYU moves just ahead of Cortland for #2; Rochester and SLU follow. Oneonta and Fredonia move into the top 10.

On the women's side, SLU is also unanimous; in order, they, SUNYG, NYU, and Rowan (NYU moved up a place, Rowan moved down) are pretty clear-cut in their positions; UR is #5, with Plattsburgh a close #6.

Fredonias Double Top Secret Training plan:

Monday: 2 hours of repeating the Lord's Prayer in unison

Tuesday: 8 x 1 mile at 6:50 w/ no rest

Wednesday: Off

Thursday: On

Friday: 2 mile all out, 3 mile tempo (at 2 mile pace), a pack of cigarettes, 400m (with spikes) sub 85 seconds

Saturday: 17:30 3 mile followed by 2 mile race (aka Buff state)

Sunday: Cross Training - namely 1.5 hours of rollerskating, followed by 3 x 5 bicep curls with 60% of body weight

Don't think I missed any details, but if I did its due to my severe language barrier.

Oh what?! Tim Nelson didn't graduate. Injury and sickness aside, D3 is going to come close to him at Terra Haute.

I heard they started of their training with running nothing other than a 5-minute mile, then every day they added on 50 meters while going the same pace.

something in the water at fredonia, they have found a magical spring which had been lost since the 80s and found only in the last 5 years by one...every athlete now has foudn it... and also heard lancaster still has 1 year left...

Nothing wrong with that training plan. I think they have more 8 by miles with no rest and/or ON days.
