I posted this yesterday on a different thread...Different result...still a close race:
Going back to the PAC-10 versus DII nats...
The Chico guy (Bauhs) beat the top Stanford guys by over 30 seconds on their home course this year....Braun beat all of Stanford's guys last year as well in the same meet (yes, not all the Stanford guys raced)...Bauhs and Braun might well be beaten for the national title in DII this tear by Kirwa (Harding)---Kirwa (and the guy who has been running #2 for Abilene) beat McPherson (Arkansas) soundly at the Arkansas meet and McPherson ran 4th overall at the Stanford meet between Derrick and Heath...
Braun, Bauhs, Kirwa, Maina, Nyango and others---Biwott, Medigovich, Mwei, Ngirakamaro...would all race at the front of the PAC-10 race...
This year PAC-10 versus D-II hypothetical:
1. Rupp Oregon 22:55
2. Kirwa DII 23:04
3. Bauhs DII 23:05
4. Puskedra Oregon 23:32
5. Maina DII 23:35
6. Derrick Stanford 23:38
7. Braun DII 23:40
8. Heath Stanford 23:41
9. Kiptoo Oregon 23:42
10. Nyango DII 23:43
11. Ghebray Cal 23:43
12. Biwott DII 23:44
13. Riley Stanford 23:44
...DII 27...PAC-10 28---
Of course this does not factor in the shock of the PAC-10 guys when all these "dumb" DII guys (who could never qualify academically for the fine institutions of the PAC-10) are running right next to them...Or that the coaches from Stanford would totally confuse the DII runners with screams about "running the tangents"...It could be a mess and perhaps best left to silly predictions.
Also, I gave the ties to the DII "kickers" and did not factor in Rupp being a p***y
