I know that many frequenting this website don't like to hear about the plight of the Black man in America, but this would not have happened to a White man in this situation. Fred refused to move his car from a crime scene? Where is that audio? It must be available if the rest of it is, right?
The first thing I saw on the shared video was Kerley and his girl leaving a conversation with an officer, but getting circled by them. The officer initiated contact with Fred, and he could probably claim it was self defense, no? He pushed the officer with the body cam recording the confrontation, got thrown to the ground and fought back. . Once subdued by a taser after reaching his feet, he was handcuffed.
He didn't do anything wrong. The police in this video need to keep their hands to themselves, and speak to people with respect. How do you de-escalate a situation by surrounding someone and putting your hands on them?
"it's the police-you have to respect them!"
No, friend, it's more important in their line of work to respect YOU. The man stating that you have to respect them even when they disrespect you shows the unhealthy power dynamic and inflation of importance within the community. Free Fred.
