The race was run on a 1 mile loop. Another word for loop in this scenario would be lap.

Did anyone tell them he missed it by about 38 hours?
When I checked how Nedd was doing this morning on the live stream, there was discussion questioning the validity of Kouros' run.
Now that people are realising it's impossible for Nedd, they're rationalising that no one could possibly be better.
The irony of questioning the validity of a run tracked & video recorded whilst blindly believing a record not on video & recorded on a stopwatch is hilarious.
Kouros' 1000 mile record is not based on blind belief.
The race was conducted by an independent team, highly experienced in conducting multi-day ultramarathons, including previous world record attempts. One mile circuit, independent lap scorers, audited results.
As for Kouros' performance during 1000 mile, it is thoroughly consistent with his record-breaking results spanning from his 1983 Spartathlon win in his first ultra (a race he won on 4 occasions, all in times which were not bettered until two years ago), to his multiple 6 Day results in excess of 1000km, culminating in the current 6 Day world record at Colac in 2005.
