On the boys' side, obvious top teams were Woodbridge, Beckman, and San Clemente. Beckman athletes ran the 3 fastest times of the day, including the fastest sophomore and junior times and a junior team win, San Clemente sophomores were very deep and won their race against Beckman sophomores, Woodbridge athletes ran the fastest freshmen time and dominated the d2 sophomore and junior races, including a perfect score in the junior race. All these teams seemed to have a very good day, and I wanted to compare them head to head, so here's a mini-merge to simulate a one-divison race between their top 7 athletes.
1. Mason Nguyen, Junior, Beckman, 15:02
2. Ryan Barris, Sophomore, Beckman, 15:05
3. Christian Weber, Junior, Beckman, 15:07
4. Aiden Zavala, Junior, Woodbridge, 15:14
5. Aidan Antonio, Sophomore, Woodbridge, 15:27
6. Anthony Barrera, Senior, Beckman, 15:30
7. Yohan Anderson, Sophomore, San Clemente, 15:37
8. Mattheus Dos Santos, Sophomore, San Clemente, 15:39
9. Inban Kathiravan, Junior, Woodbridge, 15:39
10. Nolan Barajas, Junior, Beckman, 15:40
11. Magnus Johansson, Sophomore, San Clemente, 15:57
12. Max Marion, Senior, Beckman, 16:08
13. Aaron Feaster, Senior, Beckman, 16:12
14. Iniyan Kathiravan, Junior, Woodbridge, 16:27
15. Joey Yamamoto, Freshmen, Woodbridge, 16:32
16. Thomas Yohn, Sophomore, Woodbridge, 16:35
16. Liam Sidhu, Junior, San Clemente, 16:35
18. Erik Troester, Sophomore, San Clemente, 16:37
19. Connor Jaurigue, Sophomore, San Clemente, 16:43
20. Connor Al-imam, Junior, Woodbridge, 16:44
21. Spencer Freibrun, Sophomore, San Clemente, 16:54
team scores:
Beckman 22 (1, 2, 3, 6, 10, (12), (13))
Woodbridge 47 (4, 5, 9, 14, 15, (16), (20))
San Clemente 60 (7, 8, 11, 16, 18, (19), (21))
Overall, for these teams, this was a strong early-season performance considering the tough course. Beckman and San Clemente seem to be developing their athletes very strongly, with San Clemente's sophomore class running exceptionally well considering that this is a rebuilding year for them. Beckman had many athletes make large jumps from last year's season, although compared to San Clemente, their team seems much more spread apart among various grade levels (although their incoming freshmen team doesn't appear very promising right now), though the team's best year seems to be centered around their juniors. Woodbridge athletes ran strong times but didn't have as large of breakthroughs as the San Clemente or Beckman athletes, but they appear to have such strong talent that they can brute-force their way into contention with top teams. However, I'm definitely overanalyzing this too much and this is still another early-season meet where these teams will peak differently, and we'll see which ones shine when it matters the most. Also, Woodbridge and Beckman are notably in the same league, so we'll see them race together more after the Woodbridge invitational. This makes the league probably one of the most competitive in the state.

I thought Beckman moved out of the league with Woodbridge?

Are these times accurate? was the course short this year? It shows that eg, san clemente runner matthew dos santos ran a 15:39 this year and results from last year show him with a 19:00?

The course was the exact same as usual but it was much cooler, I think about 10-20 degrees
Stefanopolulus won the Ed Sias invite in 9:58, with Jack Rattary (College Park) right behind at 10:05. Ed Sias is a tough two mile course, running sub 10 on the course is pretty insane. Only guy before Aydon who was able to do it was Cooper Teare. Also be on the look out for Kim Dyst invitational tonight, this may be Broen Holman’s race debut. Kim Dyst is a 5k race on a golf course. Holman ran 14:48 there last season, let see what he can do tn. I’d also like to see if Oscar Angel (Manteca) can break 15 tonight too.
It’s just in, Holman won the Kim Duyst invitational with an astounding 14:41. What surprised me the most was Hunter Hannah of Matilda Torres. Hannah ran a 14:58 to get 2nd. Oscar Angel (Manteca) 3rd for 15:23. That’s not even the half of it. The Top 14 were at least sub 16. Looks like we’re off to strong start this season
Redondo Union beats out jserra and mira costa in a 5x3k race. Seems like the underdogs have the stronger teams coming into the season. First Clovis North. Now Redondo Union
Does anyone know if their goals are for getting top 7-6 in the merge or top 7-6 in d1.
Redondo Union’s literally entire top 7 is seniors. So it looks like this year is their last chance to do special things. With 7 seniors on varsity, I think there will be a lot of leadership on the team.
I’m sure that trying their best to make state will be very important to them because D1 Southern section is not easy at all.
Matilda Torres 5k: Hannah 14:58, Fernandez 15:30, Felix-Andrade 15:39, Soito 15:50, Ramirez 16:21, Santiago 16:28, Macias 16:33. They def look solid for a DIII State Title. 3 seniors, 3 Juniors, and a Freshman. Maybe an NxN bid in 2025

Stefanopulus has taken a massive step up this year. His 14:29 last week was nuts - the North Monterey course is legit stuff. 9:58 at Ed Sias is amazing.
Mira Costa had their full team and won. Tesoro was missing 2 scorers, but they weren't going to challenge the top 2. Other than that, results about as expected.

Anybody know why Carson Hedlund hasn't race this year? He is listed as an individual entry at Woodbridge next week, so I hope he is healthy.
Hedlund injured his knee during ccs, he was on the boot for quite a while, which is why he didn’t make it past ccs prelims. His Strava looks to be a lot of biking and a little bit of running. Hoping for a speedy recovery, wouldn’t want to see Hedlund miss out on his final season.

Any idea whats going on with Benjamin Bouie this year? He didn't race at Lowell and I haven't heard anything.
