As a coach of 15+ years, usually it's the distance athletes that complain about everything...

Seems as though butler has an assistant distance position open again. After promoting Culler has he moved to a better job or is he out of coaching the same as their last assistant?

Well let's agree that it's the distance athletes at Duke whining and complaining. You guys act like you haven't been around the profession to see young folks have a personal agenda to get a coach fired because he/she won't cave or cater to entitlements. We don't know exactly what's going on at Duke. I think it's fair to say that yes some kids that have a legitimate displeasure with him and some kids are whining and entitled. We don't know exactly why said coach was fired and the director is not allowed to speak on that trust me. Before he let her go that I had to be signed off by an administrator, he doesn't get to make that decision unless he has satisfied the questions the powers to be have for him. Let's stop acting like standard operating procedures and workplace policies are absent.

Well, the person(s) making claims will not say whether they heard it from only distance runners or various members of the team. All we have to go on is that there's issues with the distance side and that coach was let go. Until you want to give more info or anyone else. This is all there is. I have seen enough to know that these kids think they are smarter then they are and through social media have learned a whole new level of manipulation. If anyone wants to run with what a kid(s) say. Then that tells me a lot.

If you were referring to me, I was NOT talking about Duke. I was talking about another college. The Director of Track & Field / XC told multiple athletes that they he will not be giving workouts, and that position will be reevaluated.

Duke needed a change for a while. Hiring Wilbourn was a proven mistake. So glad to see him gone.

The program has a lot of complaints and and is an extremely toxic environment and Shawn Wilbourn is on thin ice. He’s a bad director and fired the distance coach when he got hired and brought in his friend Angela Reckart who was an awful coach. With constant complaints and failure he then was forced to fire his friend Reckart because his job is now on line. He’s trying to make it look look he’s leading. Unfortunately for Wilbourn he is dead in the water because of all the complaints about him and failure to lead.Most likely this job will be open this summer. I just hope Duke makes a good hire for once.
Shawn had affairs with his last two distance coaches… and then they were “let go”. He better be careful about letting Reck go. There’s a new sheriff in town and that stuff doesn’t work no more.

Is any of this actually confirmed? We're seeing all of this speculation on the thread but nothing that concretely states any movements are being made. Unless I missed something?

Shawn Wilboun is still there, but Angela Reckart / Distance Coach is gone. Shawn is not in good standing, but still currently there.
