Mad goofy that y'all are bringing the kids' writing into this. Leave these kids and their incredibly out of context quotes alone lmao. If they're as clueless as you claim they are, then you'd leave their "super easily influenced" minds alone, because they could be corrupted by your BS opinions of their fun little summer camp experiences. The audacity is wild. These kids have parents, and if the parents truly gave a damn about the baseless accusations, New Gen would be in legal trouble. I'm sure the parents of these girls have read almost everything they have ever written and I'm sure they're proud of both of them. Again, actually leave this kids alone.

A pretty weak argument to assume parents are in the loop. Plenty of teens keep a lot from their parents, often to their detriment when they dig themselves and their friends into holes like this.

Is someone paying y’all to hate?? It seems like some of you letsrun lurkers full time jobs is coming on here to speculate. You’re spending your time picking apart people’s writing and searching the internet for miniscule “clues” to paint these people you truly do not know as evil. Log off and get a drink of water. Trust me it’s not that deep❤️
Regardless, the point of this thread was the toxicity of these young men and their actions/response to criticism.
They posted potentially traumatic pictures of boys abusing girls. Not because it was art, but as a fellow camper said, because it was "funny." When I was in high school, I had classmates overdosing on heroin. Maybe it would be "funny" to do a collection influenced by needle sharing? How about a really "funny" one about gym teachers showering with their students? Or is that one a little too "close"? Classic Y2K 16 candles related humor!!
The "adults" in the room have power both as mentors and owners of a media outlet. They may not have meant to, but they have to understand their influence. You could imagine the peer pressure these high school girls felt when all of the boys and 24 year old camp counselors were patting themselves on the back for such a great idea. Try being a 16 year old girl in a room full of people you want to fit in with (or are hoping to be hired by) and saying no to that idea. "Want to be the one shoved into a locker? That would be so cool!"
Then the response to the criticism was to light Emma Gee up, calling her a disappointment to her parents because she is gay and saying it was because she could capture the male gaze.
New Generation wouldn't necessarily have to answer for this, yet they posted the pictures on their page and even apologized for it (for an hour before removing the post).
Just posting this to remind everyone the real problem isn't the kids, it's the leadership. Seems like some posters think we have it out for the minors here.

"mad goofy"
We're not going after the kids. We're going after the profoundly disturbing "leadership" over at New Gen.

ive always been creeped out by photos like this. What’s the behind the scenes like, where they basically did a soft core porn photoshoot last year. what happens to the “mistake” photos where too much skin is showing or there’s nip slips. Are they actually getting deleted or… are they still on someone’s harddrive
This was from a year ago. I can’t believe that this shoot wasn’t the nail in the coffin. We’re the big brands not paying attention to these things back then before keep partnering with them?
I guess I wasn’t paying close attention myself until my girlfriend started pointing things out
the sexualisation of high schoolers, by young adults in a position of authority as camp leaders.

GTFO here with that bs. The stuff at the beginning of this thread was kind of no big deal, but now the adults at camp are asking thorough and probing questions about a 15 year old’s sex life? Yeah that bothers me.
Read the stupid rice test idiot. If you can’t see what’s wrong with that then idk…
This is kinda shocking for just 9 months ago. kind of casual homophobia/misogeny you saw 15+ years ago - he leaves out the question words but it's implicit in the question is "[Would it be worse to have] a gay son or (t)hot daughter?"
I think ben crawford is basically a weirdo who went to oregon and got to know cooper and cole there, got to make and post videos of/with them, and has been riding that gravy train and pseduo-celebrity as far as he can (may have ended now)
I get that this is a really small point, but that's not what the question was.
Thot daughter is not akin to 'hot daughter'. Look it up on Urban Dictionary if you want but the question is 'gay son or sl*tty daughter'. With the latter obviously not being very favourable, it arguably makes the whole thing more egregious because you're trying to position a normal sexual orientation vs. something that is classically and widely accepted as publicly undesirable.
I know the conversation has moved on here and the video was many months ago, but I'm struggling to get my head around the fact they willingly published that video
You should be able to see them on this tweet. A decent amount of the concern also stems from the ugly comments that New Gen campers sent to Emma Gee when she called the photos disappointing, as well as a cringey non-apology/apology that New Gen posted for an hour or two before deleting.
What a dumb tweet. Is it "disrespectful towards women" when Jason kills some girl in a Friday the 13th movie? The pictures aren't implicitly saying anything about women in general, it's just a bunch of people being oversensitive and reading too much into things.

Yes it is…good point
and it is racist when the black guy would die first
Authors Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman and Mark H. Harris trace the history of the troubling horror-movie trope in their revealing new book “The Black Guy Dies First”

Yeaaahhh... While I don't really agree with the hate New Gen is getting over the photoshoot, I could definitely see why someone wouldn't watch them after that video. It's one thing to make those jokes when you're alone with your friends and nobody who would hear them would get offended, but it's another thing to post it on a public platform where anybody could watch. Even in today's comedy culture, if you're going to make a gay joke it's got to have a more sophisticated angle than just "lol gay people bad" for it to pass. Ben Crawford is just an edgy cringelord at this point.

When someone goes to see Friday the 13th, or any movie for that matter, there is an understanding that they are paying for entertainment provided by actors, written by writers, directed by directors. It is understood that you are entering into a realm that is not reality, and you suspend disbelief and enjoy the film.
When you decide to have a photoshoot with track athletes and share this on a free platform, on your account that is supposed to be covering track and field and the lives of the athletes, people are going to be caught off guard when they see these kinds of pictures. There is no narrative to these pictures, no deeper meaning, no artistic nuance, just content that was created to create content. CONTENT IS NOT ART.
I've seen the movies that were referenced in the apology dozens of times. I don't see the connection. I don't see the point of most of these photo shoots. All of them seem to be in the style of other eras, in the style of other creators, and the form and presentation does nothing to add to the athletes personas.
If you want to take silly pictures of your friends eating ice cream or throwing popcorn around or wearing 90s clothes or shoving each other into lockers, have fun. But to claim that this content is some fresh intersection or track and field and pop culture and is growing to grow the sport somehow is just laughable.
All of this content is useless and doesn't need to exist. I get that it gets boring taking the same pictures of the same runners running down magnolia road, but at least that was relevant.
