Does he ever actually interact with the people in his comments section? All I see is the 'comment of the day' and maybe a random emoji or two. I get that he probably can't reply to every comment but other YouTubers do a much better job of picking out some interesting comments each video (even critical ones) and replying thoughtfully.
I think that is one of the most hillarious aspects of it. People can leave a comment sharing a heartfelt personal story about how running and watching SJD helped them overcome their suicidal tendencies etc etc and the only response they get is:

COMMENT OF THE DAY!!!!!11
It's all a part of this facade of a community he's trying to sell. As if bestowing the hallowed "comment of the day" to someone is some grand gesture. On top of that, it's even more insincere because he films himself granting the comment of day in each vlog for the previous day's video, so obviously it's really just another device / opportunity to eek out a little bit more content for the vlogs.
It's like the insincere things he'll sometimes say to the effect of "DGR is a community, it's a two-way street, I try to offer you all a bit of inspiration each day with these vlogs but really YOU all inspire ME everyday to keep going". Yeah Seth, sure, a narcissistic near-2:20 marathoner is drawing inspiration from some random internet stranger who's been running for 3 weeks and has to walk in a 5k.
It's insane to watch what this tiny niche of an audience he's cultivated has done to his ego. He seems to see himself as this mini-celebrity. Anytime someone shouts DGR when he's filming on the trails, he'll ask them "oh do you watch the vlogs?" I desperately want someone to be like, "yeah I hate-watch them so I can have some ammunition for LetsRun snark."

It borderline happened today. those two guys he saw on the trail didn’t even say hi to Seth. one of them muttered “butter my bread” under their breath and then Seth stopped to interrogate them. they didn’t seem pumped to meet Seth, Seth seemed more pumped to meet his “fans.”
Also - how is this a sabbatical from “quality” vlog production? He had several shots of him running up that mountain today from stationary positions. So he did the ol, put the camera down, hit record, run down the trail a bit, run up the trail past the camera, go back, grab camera, hit stop, continue on the trail. repeat several times.

Or they get a random emoji like a piece of bread, a flexed bicep, or the 100 points emoji... might as well not even respond at that point.
I'm surprised Seth didn't just delete this guy's comment. I can't wait for the results to speak for themselves. 😎
This is just another example of his god awful training. He just makes things up. Who needs science anyways? I liked history in high school.
It takes a few weeks for the body to fully acclimatize to higher altitudes. 25 minutes isn’t going to move the needle at all. This is just him explaining away needing a breather after summiting

Also can' t wait to see the results speak for themselves when he wins this race again that none of the pros are doing.
I mean, I love a bit of Seth bashing and the field wasn’t stacked, but the year Adam Peterman has had puts Seth’s performance at PP into perspective. AP is likely to be crowned Ultra-runner of the year this year having just won WS100 as well as a couple shorter ultras earlier in the year and now surely the favorite for CCC. 2nd place at states, Hayden Hawks, mentioned how strong AP was on the climbs as the reason he couldn’t beat him, yet our boy Seth beat AP by nearly 10mins. Seth’s definitely up there with the top uphill runners, maybe not the Europeans but in NA for sure.
He’s still a ridiculous, catch-phrase spouting, egg eating, poorly trained, main character in his own head. But that performance looks great now.

One moment I think about a lot is when he crossed paths with Robbie Ballenger on some mountain. Previous to that he had crossed paths with some DGR fans and made a big deal out of thanking them for watching. ie making it all about HIM. Then Robbie comes by and Seth doesn't seem to know who the F he is, Robbie doesn't know who Seth is so of course isn't fangirling over him. Robbie was doing his 14er challenge, but Seth wasn't interested because it wasn't about HIM. Does Seth have any running friends at all I wonder?

There is something else having that one race that he has done 1000 times in training and having a full season.

I'm not going to totally discount the win. It was a good performance. But I don't think Peterman's performance adds much context to it. Clearly Peterman gets better as the race gets longer and more technical. Second, Peterman was actually in the middle of a moderately busy racing season-- he'd run the Speedgoat 50k a month prior to PP (which was his first ever ultra), and in early November he won the Moab trail marathon followed by the JFK 50 mile at the end of the month. We have no idea if he was peaking for PP but it seems unlikely.
In contrast, Seth builds his whole year around Pikes Peak. He ran a half marathon in April and a 10k in mid-June. That's totally his choice, not judging it at all. But it doesn't compare to what someone like Peterman has been doing in terms of his racing calendar. (This year he's already won the Chuckanut 50k and the Canyons 100k in addition to Western States whereas Seth has run one half marathon and one full marathon.)

That's a good question, and I kind of doubt it. Obviously he's got his channel to worry about and it's fine for him to more or less do his own thing, but it does seem like a number of other running youtubers besides for him are at least friendly with each other. The best example is Kofuzi who seems to legit get along with everyone and even used to shout out / rep other channels' merch and whatnot. But I'm pretty sure various others like Sage, Stephen Gnoza aka "A Serious Runner", Jamison Michael before he went MIA, Ginger Runner, Billy Yang, the Believe in the Run guys, and some others have had various crossovers or supported each other in some small way at times. Seth has always been very noticeably absent from any of that.
And if you were just some pretty fast non-youtuber local runner who got friendly with Seth for some reason, would you ever want to train with him when it would entail the whole thing being filmed for content for his channel, waking up at 4:00am, running at paces probably even under recovery effort sometimes, multiple starts/stops so he can setup shots and then go retrieve the camera after, etc. Lol I'd rather be waterboarded.
Whoever threatened to call the “cops and the faa” yesterday needs to stop for two reasons:
1) doing so would make you crazy annoying. Karen all-madden mode.
2) he might actually stop doing these things, and we want him to keep doing these things so we can come on here and laugh everyday with one another while the rest of the world falls apart.

It was an empty threat. I’m trying to DISCERN how much he cares about our comments here and negative comments on his channel. If we find he can be influenced by our comments, the door is open for other things.
example, no one has mentioned how we could prank him by mailing stuff to his PO Box.
who here doesn’t want to see him open boxes full of bizarre running tech that he feels the need to go and test out? shoe mounted lights, disgusting Gu flavours, running shirts that look like training bras, maybe some clothes for his baby girl that have weird slogans like “eggs 4 lyfe”. if we mailed him some whack s*** and he treated it like a genuine gift or product to test it would be funnier than any antic that had happened thus far.

Laws are there for a reason.
Maybe it's time to have a closer look at the drone rules in Colorado. Since Seth is using his drones for his commercial outfit he has to look for the commercial part of the rules as well.
I am pretty sure that Seth does not know what drone owners must follow To fly under Part 107 rules. He probably has never heard of Part 107 and yet he is operating in Denver air space.
Drones are allowed in the United States for recreational and commercial use, subject to FAA and local regulations. Read on for details on the Federal drone laws in the USA.
Notes for operating Commercial Drone Services in Colorado If you have a small drone that is less than 55 pounds, you can fly for work or business by following the Drone Laws in the USA defined by FAA Part 107 guidelines. Commercial drone operations in Colorado State are approved under the FAA Part 107. Please check the specific state jurisdiction for additional permissions, licensing, or clearance requirements. There are three main steps drone owners must follow To fly under Part 107 rules: Step 1: Learn the Rules Make sure you understand what is and is not allowed under Part 107 rules. Review a summary of the Part 107 rules (PDF). Still unsure if Part 107 rules work for you and your intended UAS operation? Check the FAA user identification tool. Some operations are not covered by Part 107 and will require a waiver. Here are some common examples of Part 107 sections that are subject to waiver:Operation from a moving vehicle or aircraft (§ 107.25) * Daylight operation (§ 107.29) Visual line of sight aircraft operation (§ 107.31) * Visual observer (§ 107.33) Operation of multiple small unmanned aircraft systems (§ 107.35) Yielding the right of way (§ 107.37(a)) Operation over people (§ 107.39) Operation in certain airspace (§ 107.41) Operating limitations for small unmanned aircraft (§ 107.51) *The FAA will not waive this section to allow the carriage of property of another by aircraft for compensation or hire. If your operation will require a waiver, read about the Part 107 Waiver application process. Commercial Drone Pilots should avoid flying near airports because it is difficult for manned aircraft to see and avoid a drone while flying. Remember that the UAS operator must avoid crewed aircraft and are responsible for any safety hazard their drone creates in an airport environment. Read more about flying near airports. Step 2: Become an FAA-Certified Drone Pilot by Passing the Knowledge Test To be eligible to get your Drone License (Remote Pilot Certificate), you must be:At least 16 years old Able to read, write, speak, and understand English Be in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a UAS Review the entire process to get your Drone License or Remote Pilot Certificate. Study for the Knowledge Test by reviewing the Test Prep materials provided by the FAA. Obtain an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) by creating an Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) profile before registering for a knowledge test. Schedule an appointment to take the Knowledge Test at an FAA-approved Knowledge Testing Center. Once you’ve passed your test, complete FAA Form 8710-13 for a remote pilot certificate (FAA Airman Certificate and/or Rating Application) using the electronic FAA Integrated Airman Certificate and/or Rating Application system (IACRA)* You are now eligible to operate as a commercial drone pilot Step 3: Register your drone with the FAA Registration costs $5 and is valid for three years. You’ll need a credit or debit card and the make and model of your drone handy to register. Visit dronezone.faa.gov and select “Fly sUAS under Part 107” to create an account and register your drone. Once you’ve registered, mark your drone (PDF) with your registration number if it gets lost or stolen.

Completely fair point and I agree regards the whole season context. I just meant that due to how dominant Peterman has been over the last year and considering that, at least in an ultra, he’s known to be a great climber. It’s pretty mad to think that his only loss (i think) was to Seth, in a race where it’s basically won on the accent. And he didn’t just sneak a narrow victory against a tired pro. He beat a 25 year old D1 10k guy, who’s since unbeaten, by nearly 10mins, I assume fueled only by butter and eggs. That single performance is very impressive.
It wasn't that long ago that he put a call out to viewers for ideas and around that time he said he'd be posting footage from viewers runs around the world, photos, videos etc. Has he actually ever done that?
Also the Michael Mangano NPC comment on todays video was clearly an attempt to get COD. C'mon now, you gotta try harder than that Mikey. How exactly has Seth changed your life for the better..? How much you owe to the channel..? How many minutes has it lead to you shaving off your 45 minute 5K PR.....?
