I see pretty much normal life here other than shops being open. No one ever sticks to the 5k rule, no masks other than in shops, no police anywhere. It's been that way more or less the whole time. Eastern suburbs are the same. Western Sydney - who knows, never go there. Anyway, as 'freedom' is now a week away, important questions:

I actually believe this.
If the covid restrictions and mandates were actually being followed and enforced then it stands to reason people would be kept apart from each other and Covid cases would fall- this is how contagious diseases work. However, Covid cases are up 10% in Australia from last week and I believe they may be at a record weekly high across the country. What does this all mean? It means “the powers that be” have simply lost the will and/or ability to enforce Covid restrictions.
The same type deal happened in the United States long ago. Despite all the lockdown orders, mask mandates and vaccine mandates from our authorities up in Washington DC and our various state capitals we still led the way in Covid cases and deaths internationally and it isn’t even close. Why? Because our political overlords (many of them senior citizens) didn’t have the will or power to enforce their own mandates. They were, at the end of the day, just tired old men and women.
