Hate to agree with you but, you’re right. I think individually they’re solid athletes but the training doesn’t seem to be clicking for the long term. Hobdell has had mixed results over the years, three Olympians you can’t overlook, but there’s been a lot of stinkers in there too. Tom Evans (Western States winner) being one, couldn’t wait to leave and was broken when he did.
Scott ran 13:04 in Boston, basically a downhill 5k on those tracks but since hasn’t broken 13:20.
Rory flew in Valencia over the 10k, cracker of a result and is doing shorter distances this season, I think he’ll come good when he goes back up in distance. Knocking on the door of 3:40 isn’t too bad off strength work, another winter and he could fly at 10k or the half.
Ellis needs to go to the half marathon asap.
Sarah is stealing a living sadly. Getting put to the sword by athletes way younger and unsponsored in the UK is not a good look. Should step up in distance if she wants to continue earning a few quid out of Hoka for as long as possible.
Callum, brutal injury stopped his run of improvement. Must be hard mentally to change coaching set up, cross train for the first year and then be stinking out of it. Another winter could do him good to turn it around next summer.
Gidey, monster of a runner. Must be his Irish genes 😂
Depending on the agreement with Hoka, whether they signed the group as a deal or if they’re on individual contracts, most brands don’t understand the value in social media value that the group could bring through YouTube etc so they could quickly focus on results solely which could be curtains very soon.
I think it’s a case of, good for them, best of a bad bunch getting a contract trying to make a go of it. Hope they turn it around.
