$65 million would have to increase 110x to be worth $7.2 billion (if Trump is actually worth that much). Assume historical S&P returns of 10ish percent, his wealth should double roughly every 7 years. It would need to double less than 7 times, to account for his fortune. So if “long time ago” was 40-50 years ago, his wealth is not indicative of being a good businessman.

Not saying that at all. If he did receive $40 million in mid-70s and parlayed it into $7.2 billion (Forbes' estimate - not mine) he did very well. I calculated (in my head) he would have about $2.4 Billion if he had put everything into the S & P in 1974. I am not confident in the DJT calculation but it is what it is.
