Sandy won Badwater 2017 by catching up to and passing more established runners. The same thing happened with the transcon. Sandy outlasted the competition. As Zwitty has stated, that is Sandy's trademark: slow but steady and keep on going. Sandy only got off pace the last 70 miles.

The topic of one of the threads that got removed last night pertained to the incredible nature of what Sandy has accomplished in the last few years. One of the reasons she was being doubted, initially, was because of the length (its shortness) of her past running resume. Sure there are some ultra run accomplishments, but the occur over the span of, what, two years? It gives the appearance that she literally came out of nowhere and moon-shotted to a Transcon World Record! That is why she was being doubted initially. Because she was a major unknown, anxious to get out there and just do it.

So really, what is her running history? And when did she come under the coaching tutelage of Zwitty?

Pete didn't get a TV crew either, and many runs never get one either. That is the sad state of running as a sport.

My mile counted ended up at 3123.2, close enough to not worry about.

Markus, I know you like the idea about miles per day as an evaluator. How about considering as a comparison point also how fast a transcon runner reaches an accepted mileage number--2800 miles in the case of a run across America?

I don't know. I think the main goal is to cross the country not to reach a random mile marker.

At the end this is just a fun record. If you want real records you should do races. But that's just me.

I think it is a pretty big 'bragging rights' record worth of its own honor. But because it can easily be spoofed, it is imperative that diligence is applied, by those seeking the honor, by those handing it out, and by those observers of the feat, to assure cheating doesn't happen.

If you are asking about technology it should be possible to post a live stream what allows you to see parts of a long run--similar to Garmin breadcrumbs--where you can chose any section and watch the full video. Garmin's shared sit does something that some people might not have noticed. When you zoom out there are fewer breadcrumbs. When you zoom in the number of breadcrumbs increase to one every 2 minutes of so. Maybe the current 2-minute breadcrumb interval will improve in the future. And maybe Garmin will add mileage markers as well.

The bots likely will, in a flash instant. Mere humans can peruse the highlights, and speed up video by multiple Xfactor. The main point is to have all coverage in place, that can be perused post-event, and used to quickly confirm the integrity of the run.

You play it back at like 5X or 10X speed just to see if there is anything that needs to be verified at slower playback speeds. Reviewing video footage can be quick.

No, I didn't ask the Brojos anything about last night's thread deletions. Wejo told me in the past that there were no automatic deletions for reported posts /threads and reported things were handled by human mods.

So some of the questions are:

Which Mod deleted the threads?

Why did the Mod delete the threads?

Can the BroJo's open an investigation into which Mod was responsible (and have that Mod removed of their Mod privileges)?

Scam, you might be interested in two things I noticed about the Strava data. One is that, for Sandy and Mimi, it almost always measured longer than a straight down the road path measured by Google. That is not so odd on it's own because they both measure distance differently, but Sandy's final run route measured 133 miles per Google while her Garmin recorded 139.6 miles.

Part of the difference in miles might be something I am calling data wobblies. The extra miles are partly due these wobblies.

I should add that Mimi's Strava was also had those Garmin wobblies, and she ran longer than expected until she dropped out--about 80 miles longer than her expected route.
