So, don-OLD is going to wipe out a lot of the gains made in the markets under Joe Biden, but the question is how fast is he going to do it? Let's use the Dow Jones to keep score. The carnage begins tomorrow.
On January 20, 2021, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed at 31,188.38 points.
As of January 31, 2025, the DJIA closed at 44,544.66 points.
This represents an increase of approximately 42.9% over President Joe Biden's term.
According to the BLS inflation calculator, inflation from Jan 21 to Dec 24 (no Jan 25 data) was 20.65%. So if the Dow increased 42.9% but inflation was 20.7% then it only had a 'real' increase of 22.2% over 47 months. So that's 5.25% gains per year when adjusting for inflation.
Trump:
Inflation from Jan 17 to Jan 21 was 7.72%. Dow was $19,827.25 on January 20, 2017. So it increased 57.3% over Trump, with only 7.72% inflation. So it had a real gain of 49.58% over those 4 years: averaged yearly, it gained 10.59% per year.
"A billion here a billion there, pretty soon you're talking about real money"
Yes, Elon has sent 20-something Tech bros into the Treasury and other offices with removable hard drives. They have locked themselves in server rooms, doing who knows what. If staff resist, they are fired or put on leave and sent home. The Bros have taken control of these core system that the Treasury uses to process billions of dollars of payments. None of them have any sort of security clearance, and they now have YOUR data as well as everyone else's.

Democrats are purposefully delaying virtually all of my Nominees. No matter how good and well qualified someone is, they are taking maximum time for approval — and laughing about it. They’re having a good time at the Country’s expense and safety. If George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were nominated for a position, the Democrats would take it out to the last moment before having to approve. It is disgraceful! They can’t get over the landslide loss suffered in the Presidential Election. But the Democrats don’t understand, with what they’re doing, that their losses will only get greater. Republicans must GET TOUGH — AND MUST GET TOUGH VERY FAST. We need our Nominees NOW, for the Safety and Good of our Country!

Yeah, we see the concern for the safety of the country... by putting a Clown Car Cabinet in charge of every aspect of national security.

It's even worse, because there are random people gaining access to top secret intelligence.
Musk has his tech bros (who are literally kids -- max age 24) forced into the USAID database. That database is in the State Department, which includes deeply top-secret information. None of them, including Musk, have a security clearance to allow this. This is perhaps the largest cyber attack/heist in history and it's ongoing, with no one stopping it.

Boy, they sure worked to drag their feet on State before confirming Rubio, working hard to paint a negative picture about him the whole way. And I forget … how much negative press did they leak on that one, how dragged out and contentious was the hearing, how did the vote go? He get out on the job a lot later than is standard for a Secretary of State?
Nominate an actually qualified candidate, get a good confirmation process.
Nominate someone considered highly qualified only by your base, the Senate will apply the advice and consent powers it is granted by the Constitution in ways you might not like.
Looking to see the keeping of promises by the President.
I know Vivek and Elon said some things, but what was the candidate’s promise regarding “some pain” in the American economy during the election cycle?
Was the pain promised? If so, it looks like he intends to keep this one better than releasing tax records, having the “beautiful” health care plan for “repeal and replace,” ending the war on day one, lowering the price of eggs on day one, etc.
Anybody here have a sense of how much pain, how the pain will manifest itself, which Americans will be most likely to feel the pain most acutely, and the duration of the pain?
There are a lot of people here who seem to know a lot about how awesome the President is and how awful the Democrats are, so they should be able to give us a pretty good sense of how much pain there will be and how long it will last. I’m looking to short the major market indexes tomorrow and am wondering about whether to get sector-specific and what the right exit point will be.
Trump needs to stop being restrained by precedent and the constitution. Just unilaterally shut down departments and stop funding things you don't want. Cut all DEI funding, endless wars, make Europe pay their fair share in NATO, etc
A 4th man Trump pardoned for Jan 6 arrested for rape — judge denies bond, sets June trial. Dillon Herrington, nicknamed "MAGA Lumberjack," is charged with raping a woman who was blacked out and did not consent. He was armed with a military knife and stun gun on Jan 6 when he assaulted Capitol Police. Dillon Herrington threw objects at police officers, including a full water bottle, an unidentified object pulled from a box marked “Danger High Voltage,” and a 4 x 4 piece of lumber.

Not exactly an American patriot are you? Chinese have their eggs in you, Benedick.
Same kind as in the c-suite of American businesses descending on DC with tariff exemption requests. Think Trump campaign contributors go to the head of that line? Is that an effectively drained swamp?
