I really wish Megan (Murray) and Megan (Featherstone) would do Fuel for the Sole without Thomas. He adds nothing to the podcast but has no problem jumping in to answer questions for a sports RD .. when one is sitting next to him.
I used to like Fuel for the Sole, but how can you take them seriously anymore when they're taking on supplement selling sponsors?
I think it's safe to say anyone debating if strava time counts as a pb is in fact a hobby jogger and not impacting anyone else with their lack of knowledge other than other hobby joggers.
It's very hard to tell with Bester whether this is him posting, or one of his brainwashed viewers?
He ran 31:05 on a quick ish course. FOD did a video on that guy sirpoc who ran exactly 31:05 last week on a pretty hilly looking course, is 41 years old and works full time and is a self confessed hobby jogger. There is nothing wrong with that as a level or what he is on par with, but let's get this right he's actually worse than some random guy from Letsrun, who also destroyed him at London FWIW and who is a decent bit older.
When you look at it like that, it's laughable really to suggest 1. Bester is performing anything more than par and 2. He could get an elite London start.

So not an insignificant difference. I think Bester is maybe 6 years ish younger so can take that both ways. He’s had 6 less years to get a time that quick but sirpoc did his time 6 years later in life.
Both obviously have a lot of talent so I’m not sure why so many people use SIRPOCs times as a stick to best Bester with tbh. Wouldn’t particularly surprise me if Bester gets that time lower before he turns 40.

I guess that extra 30 miles is what translates to the extra 5 minutes in the marathon then? It’s not really Besters problem that Sirpoc has only done one marathon in 40 years. You could argue that if Bester wasn’t a chain smoker who didn’t run in his 20s he’d be quicker too. Not sure what SIRPOCs background was before he ran but I’m presuming he has always been really fit or has a lot of natural talent rather than just rocking up at 40 and running that quick
I can't tell if this is a series of well crafted troll posts to make bester look better but I'll bite, yes sirpoc was a high level time trial cyclist before switching over to running late in life

You’re right I’m not back to my best yet. I wasn’t way off, less than 0.9s from the winner. Worth noting I didn’t run a step for 6-7 months in 2024 after my achilles was sliced in half… it’s not easy to bounce back to the top level. I’m taking 800, 3k & 5k PBs so far this year as some success. The 1500 will come, plenty of summer left :)
Let’s Run is great for helping people engage with the sport - just remember there are real athletes that get sent the words you write. It’s not as easy as you may think to run fast all the time!

Bester is younger, does this full time and the only time they have been in a race together (sirpoc's first marathon) he finished way ahead of Bester who blew up spectacularly. Bester fan boys that day claimed it was a tough day for everyone. You can't have it both ways, if that the case then a 2:24 on marathon debut at 41 years old where he puts kilometers into a blown up sponsored athlete in bester means something.
Also, there's the fact someone else has obviously pointed out. One guys training makes sense and should be the one hobby guys look to, the other guys doesn't. It's not hard to work out who's who.

anyone have any goss on 'lolspacemonkey'/jereny rivera? not a youtuber, but on instagram. went out several months ago for some hip injury to get surgery, came back, and has now been gone for the past several months again

Also, what niggles, is this recent attempt as Bester letting his viewers assume he can hang with the pros in his full send "I tried to KEEP UP with a PRO runner at PARKRUN". The pro runner is not pro (as far as I know). Bester has a lot of talent; however, with the time and effort he puts in, he still would only scrape the top 10 in a local race like last night's Brighton Phoenix 10k. The runners beating him are just good club runners with full-time jobs, quietly just getting on with it.

Someone's lucky first marathon is silly to compare in the same race to a day where nick obviously wasn't focused as an A race.
I really no not knowing why he gets so much heat. For my money nick has done more for the amateur running community in the last decade. Some people will obviously hate it, but success brings hate!

With all due respect nobody knows who this guy is. I don't think Nick would have any interest in this. Nick alone being in a race guarantees interest where he has to generously give his time to fans and supporters etc. I don't think it makes sense for him to collaborate with a guy 99.99% of people have no clue who they are.
