Low 53 for Farrah
Mid 53 for Rupp
Lol at Rupp in that picture (and accomponied by "RUPP G"). Anyway, tremendous accomplishment for US distance running. Watching the 10k in Beijing, I hardly could have imagined a verdict like this four years later.
This photo is quality. Mo realises that Rupp got second
I am STILL speechless, I mean, what an effin' RACE!! Hats off to Salazar, Rupp and Mo!!! Proud to be a distance runner!!
The poster who originally suggested this was spot on. I got to see Jess win, the triple jump, and the 10k with exceptional commentating.
THANK YOU!!!
The Africans ran they way they always do in this type championship final. Only this time the western runners were prepared to handle all the surging.
Great job to MF, GR, CL, and DR.
Also to the other three 10k finalist that are trained in the USofA, MA,MT and DE.
Thats SEVEN distance runners trained by US coaches in the Olympic 10k final. Not bad, not bad at all.
couple thoughts,
anyone notice when (by whom) in race Rupp got spiked in the knee?
and the movie script continues when Mo gets to let Rupp get first when the race is on American soil in Chicago in 2016... Oh, what now? Rio, got the games, ya don't say, bummer.
Way to go, Galen Rupp!! Very Fun to watch - Had me hollerin' at the TV (smile).

Too many are describing the race by 5K splits- WRONG. Should be 1st 2K (5:59) & last 8K (21:30 = ~26:50 pace).
Good point. Great race, still buzzing!

It's been 20 years since I've run competitively, and 10 years since I last commented on letsrun, but I have to drop a comment and raise a glass to Salazar, Rupp, and Farah. I never thought I'd live to see the day. I felt good about the slow pace, and am amazed that the Kenyans let the first 5000 m go so slow. Then things started to pickup. I'm not sure how many of you noticed when Farah turned around to Rupp and said, "let's go" somewhere around lap 21 or 22, a gesture that sent chills. And then, the finish. Like many of you here, I frightened the family dog by maniacally jumping up and down in the last 100 m, then proceeded to grab both of my kids at the end of the race (who were thrilled to both be picked up at the same time -- not a daily occurrence). And yes, this jaded old former distance runner had a tear in my eye. May this be the start of many great things for US distance running.
Your post put a smile on my face and I raise a glass to your post!
Tears here in Cleveland, too, spokanexc!
Rupp is ugly as hell, but can run. i guess part of being tough means u dont necessarily look like a beauty pansy.

I don't know if my heart will be able to handle it if Jager does the same tomorrow.

I'm a big Jager fan, but, unless all three of the Kenyans get lost on the way to the stadium and miss the race, you're pretty safe.

Or proof that the americans have better smack?
Anybody else ridiculously excited to see what Galen will do when he moves up to half and full marathon?

Yep, I got red lips from drinking the koolaid! Ruppster medals! Don't have a lot of faith in Farah or the recent Bekele. Teg will get lapped. Can Ritz kick? I can see him staying in it, but lost the last 150.
Well two out of three ain't bad! I don't think Teg got lapped, but he might as well have.
