Army believes a lot of stupid things, but one of the dumber ones is how he doesn't understand that the 3000 is more physiologically similar to the 5000 than the 1500.
Given that he thought Aregawi wasn't a good 3000m runner might explain it.
His 1500 indoor title today is only a consolation prize for Paris. Geordie Beamish ran 2 seconds faster last year and finished far faster. He would have beaten Ingebrigtsen today. Quite a few from the 2024 final would have.
Since Kerr's 2nd place and Ingebrigtsen's 4th in Paris,
Ingebrigtsen has
- become Olympic 5000m champion
- beaten him in Zürich
- set a fantastic 3000m WR
- won the DL final
- become Europaan cross champion
- set WIRs at 1500m and the Mile
- won a double at the European indoors
- won a double st the World indoors
Kerr has broken the course record in a downhill road Mile.
Jakob sure wins a lot of championships for someone who's bad at championship races
You keep leaving out outdoor 1500 finals. He hasn't won a global title in nearly 4 years. Others have a better kick.
How long has it been since El G won a 1500 final? Couple decades I reckon. What about Snell? Ryun never won so I guess he is also bad. Other people have a better kick than El G as well.
Aregawi is the third fastest 3000m runner of all time.
There were other runners capable of beating Ingebrigtsen who didn't compete. The best in the world weren't there. That's why the indoor titles don't rate like the outdoor titles.
Aregawi is the third fastest 3000m runner all time. Jakob is the fastest 3000m runner all time. Are you lying or didn't you know?

I said Ingebrigtsen wasn't racing the best in the world. Aregawi is only one runner.

Ingebrigtsen wasn't racing the best in the world. Apart from one runner - Aregawi - they weren't there. But that was good for Jakob. He could run a pedestrian 7:45 and not be outkicked - like he would be if it was a top-tier field.

Sorry, I just didn't realize that it mattered. The statement about Ryun winning is correct however.
Ryun was unbeatable at his peak of '66/'67 - unlike Jakob - and he also set a succession of world records over the 1500/mile, which Jakob also hasn't done. And, yep - he had a much better kick. But plenty do.

Aregawi has a PR of 7:21.28, only Ingebrigtsen and Komen have run faster throughout history. That makes him one of the best over 3k, which makes your claim ignorant at best. Its also interesting that you....misrepresent.. your own words when its so easy to find the truth.

Check the guy who has placed 2nd today. I'm sure you have never heard of him.
Walker in '76 won by a chest - while Bayi was absent.
Bayi had malaria. He wouldn't have won if he had competed. Walker was Olympic 1500 champion and mile world record-holder (and the first under 3:50). Ingebrigtsen has never achieved that double. He also had a great kick. Ingebrigtsen doesn't.
You have no idea if Bayi would have beaten Walker.
The first five athletes within 0.48 seconds - the closest 1500m final in OG history.
Extremely slow finishing time: 3:39.17 - it was a weak final.
When comparing some athlete with another one, you will ALWAYS find something which the other hasn't achieved - what an unbelievable stupid point. The list of achievements from Ingebrigtsen which Walker can't match, is almost endless.
Jakob will never be the first to break 3:50 in the mile BUT.........
HE MIGHT BE THE FIRST TO BREAK 3:43 AND - WHO KNOWS - 3:40.
Jakob discussions invariably come to what he might do, not what he has done.
There are hundreds of posts where people list his achievements - but you ignore any single one of them.
What you are constantly doing, is to compare just the weaker achievements from Ingebrigtsen with the strong achievements of your heros: stupidity at a new level.
El Guerrouj:
1995 WC: 2nd
1996 OG: 12th
2000 OG: 2nd
Lost 3 of his first 5 global outdoor 1500m finals.
Coe:
Hasn't won a global 800m Gold. Just 1 international outdoor Gold in the 800m in 13 years.

So where were all the rest of the best in the world? One runner isn't the rest of the best.

That's from you: "The 3k is his best event. He won it by a chest, without the best in the world being there."
That's a nonsensical statement - so just normal for you - when the 3rd fastest in history (set just a few months ago) was there.
I know you will change what you said (and what you meant) again, bacause you are a liar.
One runner isnt "the best in the world" when you are talking about a championship final. It's a discussion about a field of runners, not one guy. It wasn't just a race between Ingebrigtsen and Aregawi (whom he only just beat). This wasn't a field comparable to the outdoor world champs or the Olympics. It's Ingebrigtsen's consolation prize for losing in Paris and previous WC.

Bayi wouldn't have beaten anybody with malaria, clod. There's still an achievement of Walker's that Ingebrigtsen hasn't matched. But there are achievements of other greats that Ingebrigtsen hasn't got and will never achieve.

When the best miler was truly the best in the world, unlike the Norwegian pretender.
