    Yeah I agree, and I think Jakob is taking that with a stride. Its great for the excitement that he dares to put his neck out, This must be super sweet for his haters etc, but I just don't understand how people pretend he is something he is not (don't know how to race, satan personified etc).

    I was hoping that at the very least the GOAT claims would go away for a while after another loss, but no, here are the same posters now talking about how his "sustained excellence in the discipline" is similar to the all time greats.

    Is it some common sentiment against the diamond league in the US (getting paid)? Seems like more often than not US runners are not competing as much as many others. (Also travel distance, but still). Time for an europe based US group?

    im gonna admit this loss has me slightly depressed. I don't even get mad with this stuff anymore. Stacking golds is a huge part of building the all-time legacy, and Jakob lost a huge chance for one tonight.

    As a lifelong fan of the buffalo bills, this is the kind of disappointment I have come across far too many times in my life.

    Going to get my workout in for the day. I will be channeling my inner JOsh MF Kerr for this one.

    A fair question. For athletes on the West Coast especially it is a large commitment travel-wise. The sprinters also don’t seem to have a setup like Saint Moritz where they could set up camp for a month-plus. I think there would be merits to having a second base overseas. A lot of these guys like Benjamin train with college teams/coaches so I’d doubt they’re giving consideration to staying for an extended time.

    I thought he would win, but one win from three global finals does not make him a great one yet

    Imagine what Jakob must be feeling. His problem is that he is now 0-for-2 with the target on his back. I wonder if he is reconsidering the notion that running from the front is his best option.

    He has won every race this year but one, but he said himself that he wasn't the best runner today. I am not sure if there are any grounds to pretend that he haven't been the best 1500 runner the last seasons.

    I am a fan of Kerr and glad he won. The change was drastic in all of them which is why I brought it up.

    Its interesting. I have no idea how it plays out in sprints, but at least in middle distance it just doesn't make any sen. se to almost only compete in the championships
