Tesla is the only company that can lower cost? Then why does Model 3 cost 47k now when it used to be 39k? Why does Model Y cost 67k when it used to be 43k? No other car company has raised the price of their EVs as much as Tesla.
I'm sure when 100% of people have EVs, they will all be able to charge!
California is getting an unprecedented heat wave this weekend due to global warming caused by CO2 emissions. You have to be a special kind of right wing dummy to wag your finger at California for putting out conservation alerts for this weekend as some sort of admission that EVs don't work in the real world.
So if California converts to EVs way before the rest of the country and the world global warming will drop so significantly that California won’t have heat waves? Therefore…no high demand for energy? It’s kind of a dumb debate but if you’re going to call other people dummy’s…

Kind of why I keep saying it would be nice to see the plan. The whole plan.

The rest of the country will follow California's lead.
By 2030, 90% of all new light duty vehicles in the US will have a plug.
Electrification of transport is only one piece in the climate puzzle. But it's a very important one.
I addressed the cost issue several posts ago. Perhaps you should go back and read them.
if you don’t know the difference between charging immediately and delaying charging, I can’t help you dude. Maybe you could check the spec sheets. Lol
You don't seem to understand the concept, which is why I was trying to help you. If you just like wasting money, there is nothing I can do.
But for the last time I will try to get through to you. All you have to do is press a few buttons and your electricity bill will go down. Nothing about your daily life will change.
You must have a reading comprehension problem. I addressed that several posts ago.
And if you are concerned so much about wasting money, you should have gotten a Mach-e. You get a much better vehicle for your money. Are you aware of the profit margin on your model y? Tesla fleeced you out of a lot of money AND you got an inferior vehicle compared to the Mach-e.

Bad answer. Doesn’t read like you’re going to unveil the plan either. Sounds like you have some sketchy ideas at best. Meantime Europeans are turning out lights and back to burning coal, firewood.

Now you're bringing up wasting money? I can't imagine the amount you've wasted on your new Tesla compared to buying something gas powered. This guy...

One or two days of record temperatures is not exactly unprecedented. You can't skewer Texas for its power issues and not acknowledge California's role in its own. I don't believe that California has a realistic plan for affordably enacting much of the legislation it has in the pipeline (100% electric vehicles and 100% carbon free in the near future, plans to decommission another nuclear plant, etc.). California is highly dependent upon imported electricity due to its NIMBY policies and aversion to installing new generation in its state. They had better overcome their aversion to new generation and nuclear power if they plan on adding EVs to their already over-taxed electric grid, as it will require 50% more electricity capacity than they currently have. Their only hope is that the continual migration away from their state (more than the state of Vermont over the past three years) and their high energy costs will minimize the impact on their insufficient power grid.

But the spec sheets, dammit!!!!
I bought my Model Y when it was $16,000 cheaper than today. And it's worth infinitely more than a Mach-e. FSD alone is worth more than the cost of a Mach-e.
Your failure to grasp time of use charging gives me no confidence in your ability to understand anything else about EVs.

Your statement makes no sense. Isn't the argument that climate change is causing an increasing frequency of these extreme weather events like heat waves, which means we are going to continue seeing more of this. And if the grid cant even handle 5-10% of cars being EVs, what will happen when its 50%+ penetration and you keep getting heat waves?
California lives in energy fairy land, thankfully some element of common sense prevailed with the extension of the Diablo Nuclear Plant. But you can't remove baseload fossil-fuel generation and replace it with intermittent renewables all while adding a huge amount of additional strain on the grid and not expect to see this with increasing regularity.
I agree with decarbonization, but the way some places are going about it are going to cause so many energy issues in the short and medium term. Wind/solar can be a piece of the overall energy pie, but they aren't a pancea. I have no idea why the green movement has shunned Nuclear Power, such a dumb decision.

My ideas about EVs are based on the history of technology adoption. Adoption follows an S-curve and EVs are now hitting the steep part of that curve. Google it if you want more info. It's interesting stuff.
The part about the climate puzzle is covered ad nauseum elsewhere.
Typical right wing nut job, makes assertions without anything to back it up.
Yet you don't have anything to back up how reliable they are. Or more reliable than gas cars. Let's see your proof fortune teller.
Just Google some stats on how long the early Teslas have lasted. Then take into account the advances in the technology since then, which will make EVs last even longer. After that, take a look at LFP batteries, which many believe should last a million miles. Over half of Teslas cars are now equipped with LFP batteries.
I've talked about all that stuff before. So yes, I have backed up my assertions.

EVs have a much lower total cost of ownership. That fact is well documented.

There is a lot of truth in what you said about California's energy problems.
To its credit, California is going forward with some very large solar, wind, and storage projects. But they need to do more.
The 2035 mandate for EVs should make it politically easier to address some of the concerns you have brought up. But the answer will not be more fossil fuels. It will be more renewables and storage. (And maybe keeping the nukes going a little longer?)
I have no idea why the green movement has shunned Nuclear Power, such a dumb decision.
The "green movement" hasn't shunned Nuclear Power any more or less than everyone else.
Nuclear power, in it's current state, is expensive and impossible to build. As such it gets brought up as a talking point to score points against the "greenies" while anyone worth listening to knows it isn't viable.
It's a way for the "anti-green movement" parties to act like they care solving the emissions problem while shifting the blame for it not getting solved onto "the others".

Correct! I've known plenty of environmental activists who are pro-nuclear and many others who are anti-nuclear.
New nuclear plants are not economically viable. But we do need to keep the old ones going as long as we can.

Laughably false, what a load of BS you just spewed, only 39% of Democrats support Nuclear Power vs 60% of R's and 53% of Independents. Which party do you think green movement members belong to? Germany's Green Party has been at the forefront of the anti-nuclear movement, going from around 25% of power generation from Nuclear to 10% (How is that working out?). Its patently false to say the green movement hasn't opposed nuclear more than other groups.
Americans remain evenly divided on nuclear energy, as they were in 2019, but this follows a period from 2004 to 2015 when majorities backed it. Support throughout has varied sharply by party.
Talking about "expensive to build" like we don't massively subsidize renewable energy and didn't just pass a $750B bill to further subsidize them. Nuclear power is 100% a viable solution to some of our energy issues, but idiots like you continue to parrot these asinine talking points which are not even remotely correct. Do a modicum of research before spreading this garbage.

oh you're right! We should do nothing since that's working so well!
If you don't murder your neighbor, will that STOP murders happening in the rest of the world? ? ? ?
sadly hilarious to see the knuckle dragging conservative's argument transition from "The world is not getting warmer". to "It's not our fault". to "Well it's too late now"
Y'all were completely wrong on climate change. Just get over it and move on.
