That's not a sustainable long term strategy. Those you call extremists have the support of majority of the population. That's why both the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas have won elections in their respective countries. America can't keep propping up Middle Eastern dictatorships forever. It will come to an end eventually.
Nearly 50 years is not a sustained, long term strategy? What is the threshold? 100?
I don't have a timeline but it will eventually come to an end. Ask yourself the same question. If after almost 50 years dictatorships have failed to stand on their own, is 100 years the magic number?
Egypt got turned into a puppet for Israel via a $1 billion plus per year bribe paid by the US taxpayer.
You are right. We would all be better off if Egypt and Israel kept fighting so the Egyptian government would fall and be taken over by extremists who would spill over into Saudi Arabia to form a colossal version of Al Qaeda but with massive oil revenues.
If all it takes to kept a country in the Middle East pacified is $1 billion a year, it is worth every penny. And Egypt is no puppet for Israel. They just share the same concern over Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood coming to power.
Egypt, a nation of over 100 million people, would have crushed Israel in 1973 if US did not prop up Israel and all these problems would be over.
Such cucks. Anyone paying attention on 2/28 and with any kind of short term memory knows it was Israel that did this strike with the US not joining the attack for several hours. Go back and look a the real time reporting on that day, not the rewritten history that appeared within hours.
You can't see anything but Israel. Expert evaluation - not your fixation - has said there is every likelihood that it was a US strike that hit the school. I don't know why you want to exclude the US from responsibility. They are by far the biggest player in this war.
No. I was just paying attention on 2/28 and can remember what we heard initially on that day.

remember boys, the first thing you hear during a war is always the most truthful account. Never believe that 'fog of war' BS. the first thing. Always the correct one.

Well, Israel launched the attack on 2/28 and that girl's school was one of the initial targets.
Hours later US joined in.
By 3/1, we were told US attacked the school.
I believe the initial reporting. You know, before there was a chance to rewrite history. You or course, cling to the one that blames America and lets Israel off the hook.
I primarily voted for him because the covid stuff (in particularly mandatory vaccines for government suppliers). But I also did not think he would be stupid enough to invade Iran. His first term was a big win in the Middle East with both the Abraham accords and his ability to get the Saudis and other gulf coast allies to call out and work to curb radical Islam. That is I thought, wrongly, that despite his shortcomings he would be a president of peace and not war.
Further proof of idiots being in control of who leads the USA
Please have an IQ test for voting otherwise USA will be heading down this road again
"Only I could have done Warp Speed!"
"Oops, never mind. I hear you rubes, vaccines are terrible."
"Good job, Pete, getting rid of that woke flu vaccine requirement in the military. Maybe we should stop checking their hearts and teeth, too."
Remember that it's not the military's job to say "No" to president, unless the order is illegal. It's their job to advise him responsibly, and carry out legal orders. In the "drug boat" strikes (murders), I think that they failed in this. And if they carry out illegal orders in Iran, they will have failed in this. But it's not the military's obligation to refuse incredibly stupid orders that will badly deplete munition levels and not accomplish any geopolitical objectives (and actually make things worse).
Civilian control of the military. We were cosmically stupid enough to elect Trump as President. We must not make it worse by suggesting that the military should stop a president from doing anything legal.
agree, of course.
Major question though is if trump's purge of the pentagon and generals made advisors simply 'yes men' who knew if they didn't support trump they'd get fired. In the military didn't present fully the risks of this war, then they failed.
I read more generals have been fired/asked to retire in the trump admin than in the entire US history up to that point. Remember the general or admiral who pushed back on the drug boat killings had to retire.
If things go really haywire I suspect we'll start to get leaks about the decision making to go to war. Or maybe they've already happened and the news cycle just blasted through them.
As I've said before, I have no doubt that it's absolutely miserable for a non-Trumper senior officer to work anywhere near Trump, Hegseth, or their decisions. And that threshold of misery can be reached even before purges begin. Of course, there's a foolproof solution: Retire.
I have little doubt that Trump/Kegseth were well-warned by the military about the dangers of striking Iran so intensely (counter-strikes and the strait). Perhaps less confident about how much they pushed back on the dangers of expending so many munitions.
Agree with you about the news cycle. I could be a more responsible citizen and put more effort into seeking out insight from senior officers who have been fired or quit in Trump 2.0. But from my "casual" news consumption, I've heard essentially nothing from them. If, for example, the SOUTHCOM commander quit/retired early because of ethical/moral concerns about the boat strikes (as is widely suspected, I think), it would be GREAT (for our country) to see him speak out about what happened, and is still happening.

nobody who quits is going to speak out because they have to look after their pension.

The usual dishonesty from the Israeli apologists.
A nation that has been nothing but trouble for the region and the world that has caused millions of deaths in the 78 years of its existence needs to be ended.
Riggs pretends it was said that "if only the jews would be killed, the problems would be over', even using quotation marks and makes a Nazi reference.
Sorry. That nonsense worked for decades but most people see right thru it in 2026, after 2.5 plus years of genocide by Riggs beloved nation

literally, one of the nazis' core, most vile positions was 'if only the jews would be killed, the problems would be over.'
And you have that same position, stated clearly here.
How? Give specifics. How would this war or other middle east conflicts be worse.
Would the alternative be more corrupt? More inflation? More deaths? Less respect from allies? Less domestic jobs? Less allies moving to new trade partners other than US?
Please cite Harris's platform or Biden's as examples.
Thanks.
Pretty obvious; peace in our time.
Why did you bother even answering when your response is as impotent as your dear leader?

I don't see any dishonesty.
Literally nobody said that.
Yet you continue to claim I did say that due to my criticism of the truly vile nation of Israel.

There is no rule that says the first reports are the most accurate. They generally aren't because they lack information that later comes to light. If you stick to that misguided principle no event would benefit from subsequent investigation. But it is only further inquiry which may come closest to the truth. The first account is only impression and shorthand, not the full story.

riggsss is correct. Your repellent antisemitism is essentially the same as that of the Nazis.
"A nation that has been nothing but trouble for the region and the world that has caused millions of deaths in the 78 years of its existence needs to be ended."
Ending the existence of a nation is annihilating a people. That is exactly what Hitler wished to do and exerted every effort to achieve and you now express the same intent about Israel. You reveal yourself to be a truly disgusting human being.
