The big mistake that many are making in their political prognostication is that they are holding the belief that there is some portion of the Republican party that wants lawfulness again. That this silent portion will somehow rise up and steer the GOP back to a real functioning political party untethered to Trumpism.

Sorry to break it to you, but that ship passed about 6 years ago. What you see taking place within the GOP is 100% the GOP. And their voters are also not tethered to any desire for a law abiding leader instead of a beloved cult leader/dictator. You see it in the comments of this message board. There is nothing that Trump can do that will stop them defending his actions or dismissing them. Trump continues to openly promise to be a dictator because he knows his cult wants it.

Trump is not even nuanced to pretend that Justice should not be biased or political. A normal person would at least fake it and speak about the validity of his position under the rule of law for any party. Trump and Habba have straight out broadcast that they expect favorable rulings as payback for appointing these republicans to the bench.
