I re-watched it. It sounds like he came into a lot of money recently. I think this confirms that a few years back they got a lump sum of money and have been living off of that. So it's either that or massive debt. Only two scenarios that make sense.
I suspect the sale of his old house was quite profitable. I want to say it was over $500k...don't know when they bought it, but if it was around '09 it wouldn't surprise me if it was in the low to mid 100s.
Didn't he also have some sort of video production business at one point too? Perhaps he sold it.
I don’t think people here understand what bullying is. It’s really just NOT all name calling or negative opinions of others. It can be, but bullying is done in order to “abuse, aggressively dominate or intimidate” another person. A random unknown person commenting on a message board that they find a person to be ugly etc., especially with no evidence the other person is even reading the comment, is not bullying. It’s not nice or kind etc, and if the person reads it they may find it hurtful, but they aren’t being intimidated, dominated or bullied. If you want to argue that people on here are only allowed to say nice things about YouTubers, fine, make the argument. But a person voicing the opinion that they find a YouTuber to be ugly is not bullying. And, arguably, it’s kind of relevant when discussing the income they make, like, how is it that an unattractive person is popular when generally it’s attractive people who are on tv, in movies, etc. Attractive runners generally get a lot more followers etc.
Sounds like something a bully would say to justify their bullying. Either that, or someone with absolutely zero social skills and EQ.
"It's not emotionally abusive for a bunch of strangers to constantly call a person ugly because it's behind their back". Most of the members in this thread seem to think that the youtubers discussed here are aware of this thread. Would you do this in real life where you're not anonymous? You can discuss their content and potential income without resorting to unkind words. Be better.
So you (and others) are insulting me here - meaning, from your perspective, you are bullying me? You are against bullying but will bully me? Ok. Idiots. (Guess what, I’m not bullying you, I just think you are an idiot.)

Let’s just all agree kindness goes a long way and stop this tit for tat silliness.
on a more positive note I am going to list a top 3 highlight videos of the week for me. Ones that made me smile and really improved my running.
1) It’s the YouTube GOAT - Nick Bester. Fantastic POV video of him at Battersea parkrun. What made this one particularly interesting is that he gets the views of his coach during the run and a professional runner who is straining to keep ahead of Nick in this one (spoiler, they both beat the course record). It’s a great watch for experienced and beginner runners alike. Guy has great charisma and seems to really bounce off other runners at the parkrun. With his new coach it will be interesting to see what his marathon ceiling is. I’m thinking around 2:15:xx
2) Benisrunning aka Ben Felton. A really detailed, thoughtful video on the best trainers for beginner runners. Really highlights his knowledge and shows his presenting skills like never before. Really wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a top presenting job in the future. BBC athletics coverage etc.. He has had a tough few months running wise but ability wise I do think he will catch the likes of Cole up in the coming years and get that sub 2:18 Mara, sub 30 10k, sub 14:20 5k etc.
3) This Messy Happy with a fascinating look at predicted times on runna, Garmin, Strava etc. he’s a very eloquent bloke and so knowledgable on the science of running. Him and Mary are both brilliant runners but also so positive and likeable. He is aiming for a 2:39 marathon in the fall. To be honest I think he’s underselling himself there.
What are everyone else’s top 3 videos for the week? Any must watch ones for my list?

what have you been smoking???
Felton on the BBC is the funniest thing ive heard this century. the guy has all the charisma of a plank of wood, and let me guess... the beginners trainers were all gifted (im not going to watch)
Bester has completely plateued, been running the same 5km times for 5yrs, got the couple of seconds he needed off his marathon time but the glory days are over once his wife stops him doing 100 miles per week or he picks up an injury (its a miracle hes hasnt got a stress responce injury considering he does every run in super shoes and never takes a day off)
Does anyone know why Fordy doesn’t want to be featured on that great influencer sum up series? Always seemed odd.
I tell you who is a great underrated YouTuber - Aubrey from bigger than running.
he did an amazing collab video recently with Phily and her husband Daniel. Was so wholesome. Great to see Aubrey getting faster too. Phily is obviously an elite runner but Daniel is also a top top level club runner so must have been a great experience for him.
he also did a cool video with light it up. Another good newish influencer

And he said it's all a snowball. Sounds like he picked some profitable investments. Hopefully he's not too heavily into AI-stocks (Dot com bust 2.0 on the way). But happy for the Greatest of All Time, Still the Original Running YouTuber.
So the OG GOAT is also a savant day trader!? That guy can do everything!

Define "top top level club runner" please
I think the general accepted view of a top club runner is someone who belong to a running club and within that local scene is well known for being fast. The next level down from sub elite.
Has anybody seen the following two running YouTuber channels and if so, what’s your thoughts please:

This scientist being the bloke that has a video saying that you can find your threshold HR by taking your average HR from the last 2k of a 5k race.

This Messy Happy seem to get decent enough results and it can't be easy training in Thailand but most of their content is fluff aimed squarely at new, uneducated runners. Even in this latest video he says Garmin predictions and zones are terrible then admits he's never edited them himself in the app so basically he is providing incorrect info to his watch. Of course the info will be off!
On the topic of content for the new and uninformed, a great video for the masses by The Running Channel detailing how "This one workout got me from 1:57 to 1:24 Half Marathon" with a picture of one of the slower, more rotund, male "runners" on the channel when the actual person who ran 1:24 was Jess

Wow, 1:24 is a ridiculously quick time. Fair play.

He's 40 now, and he said he's been investing in the stock market since middle school. So that's a lot of time for compound interest to do its thing. And then recently he says he is getting deeper into investing. So I'm guessing it's been index funds until now, and now he's getting into other stock plays. Maybe he's been on a FIRE journey the whole time?

It's been made clear that (for the understanding level of the people on this thread) any negative comment or unkind comment about a person is bullying. So, stop. Critique the lighting if you must, the camera angle, the use of props, but do not opine negatively on the person, their partner, etc. Either say you love Ben's personality, or say nothing.
