Not to get too far out on a tangent. But the "Press Conferences" in the US have turned into an absolute joke. In the traditional sense, the Press conference used to be a serious meeting where the "press" could ask insightful policy questions that they could take back and write their news stories. What we now call press conferences are a race to see who can get the biggest zinger or gotcha between seriously partisan hacks on both sides. They are dumb gotcha theatre and a contest between 3rd rate journalist like Steve Doocy.
Trump's recent "Press" conference was a perfect example of a joke. He announced it with no time for real press to travel to attend. So it was mostly partisan hacks. And there was no microphones so nobody could hear the questions. And Trump held it in his rat infested wedding motel (home base). And of course, Trump told so many unchallenged lies that allowed him to gaslight and steal the news cycle for 3 days. (but in a bad way)
Harris is smart to avoid this because she would be inclined to do a traditional press conference like Biden did. So why would they handicap themselves by playing by the rules when Trump sh!ts on the rules? Let the press squirm and let Faux news cry about it.
The truth of the matter is that the right wing wants dirty and they can't get it at rallies. They want to get their gotchas so they can attempt to stop momentum.
