If you do something wrong there are unlimited ways to do so.
If you calculate CV, it is important to use you only data, which are faster than CV, i.e. with a duration in the range of 2-20min. As more time trials you have, as more accurate the result is in general. However, with only a 5k race result, you get a quite good CV estimation, as it is close above CV (CV is about 96% of 5k pace). This is of practical relevance for runners.
