Bomar may have had a leg up in the recruiting process with her, but that doesn't take away from the job he has done developing her. She was an 18:30-19:00 5k runner in high school and is a 2 time All American now and is on her way to the NCAA XC championships.

Last I checked he had multiple girls running competitive times and marks across the board in not only cross country but track and field as well. Bomar is a COACH not a distance coach. While most distance coaches couldn't teach a kid how to run and jump he is covering all bases sprints, hurdles and jumps along with distance and cross country. Respect to Bomar for doing it with limited resources. Congrats on the trip to nationals.

Nothing against the coach but 2 quality sprinters and 1 great distance runner don’t equal great coaching. There XC team was not very good overall and isn’t building a team important? Might be amazing coach but let’s pump the brakes before he anoint him the next Van Hoyhoy
I ran for her at Sac State. I didn't do particularly well, but I attribute that to other factors. Some guys improved quite a bit, others not so much. Same goes for the women.
She was only there for one year but overall I really liked her coaching style.
I think her coaching ability really showed when she went to Sierra College. She basically started the team from scratch and made them locally competitive within their first year, and even better the next. And no offense to the athletes, but she got basically next to nothing talent wise and made them a solid team.

Absolutely, Wofford is notorious on this board for having been "The Worst DI Program" for about the last two decades. That means there are next to zero resources for this guy to work with. Amazing he can do anything there. Too bad he has to waste his time on the other events outside of distance athletes..
Wish I knew...from what I’ve head the new head coach is not well liked by the distance team...especially after firing the distance coach the week of regionals..
From what I’ve heard the new head coach is somewhat delusional. Expects everyone to transfer and only wants to recruit 3:45 1500m guys.

Agreed, he's got some good kids and he's doing it with, from what I understand, very limited scholarship $ available to him. More importantly some of the kids he has have developed well beyond the levels they were at in high school-that is coaching/development. It's not as if he's going to field huge teams of kids putting out amazing performances with their academic and financial limitations at Wofford. Contrast this with some coaches who are merely talent jockeys (especially some of the P5 schools) with their hand-me-down workouts that they used as athletes and whose athletes often don't improve much if at all beyond high school performances.
Well from what I heard he hired the old director of operations to coach distance. Not sure if both genders. She was at North Park in Illinois.
Only a crazy person would want to work for the current administration at WCU. No funding. No support. They pay the head coach like an assistant. Poor facilities. No respect.
