I agree. Normally we put felons in prison. Like the Subway guy. Like the rich brothers who brutally murdered their parents - the Menendez bros, and like El Chapo. How come Trump is not in prison?
40% of Hoosiers voted for Harris. With 9 districts, you'd think maybe 4 would be Dem leaning. But the reality is it's 2. Now potentially zero.
I live in Indianapolis. If this map is approved, I could drive through 4 congressional districts just crossing town. Voters in the city have nothing in common with people in the small towns far to the south and east. Just a travesty.
And almost 40% of Marylanders voted for Trump. What's their representation? 12.5%.
Look at Connecticut and Massachusetts combined as well: 5.1 million votes (R or D - not counting third parties) in 2024. Trump won 39% of the votes in those 2 states. Congressionally? 14-0 D-R.

Indiana has a long history of a Republican super majority using its power to diminish the impact of those of us who live in Indianapolis. For example, the state legislature passed a light-rail ban for central Indiana when Indianapolis was considering that for public transportation so that the city couldn't qualify for federal funds. We got buses instead. The state also passed legislation that changed the way road miles were counted for tax purposes so the city gets less funding for road improvements.
Indianapolis is basically the engine that drives much of the state, but our Republican legislators out in the sticks want to continually punish us for that, taking funds away and appropriating them for the dying towns in their districts. It's of no surprise that they'd want to carve Indianapolis into four different US house districts.
