I feel bad for David Epstein. He should stick to writing books and not trying to be an investigative journalist.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the NOP athletes taking the track in Eugene tonight to the absolute roaring delight of the crowd and with the detractors looking and feeling like the jealous outcasts that they have turned themselves into. Alberto timed his response perfectly. It's the track and field equivalent of the take down of Sen. McCarthy - "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? I am reasonably satisfied with the Salazar rebuttal although I wish it could have been brought out quicker as the delay impacted Mo Farah back in the UK. I think the 'sabotage experiment' was unwise and would have been better simply being referred to the testing authorities.

More than happy for drug testing authorities to look into it as long as they do a public report of the outcome. Ditto UK Athletics.

I was never convinced by the Goucher show in the original programme. Even less so now.

The coverage on this site seems to have lacked a neutral stance and pounced on the allegations with glee. I am hoping to read something positive about the rebuttal but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't any.

As for adult coach-athlete relationships these to me are a strict NO. Doesn't matter whether there is a law or rule in place or not, its unethical.

Is there anyway to condense these threads? I counted over 25 threads on the front page regarding the NOP issue. I understand there are multiple sides and new reports coming out nearly daily but there is also a great track and field meet taking place this weekend.

Can you maybe make ONE and ONLY ONE NOP thread? It kept the Kip Litton issue condensed to a readable thread even if it was extremely long. Same thing with Rossi.

The message board is hard to read right now.

I feel like both Grant Fisher and Matthew Maton both missed out on coverage of their historic miles this year due to the NOP issue.

Just my thoughts.

That's like asking Al Salazar to stop doping, within the rules. So, it's not going to happen.

First, it was someone posting under my name who suggested Nike hired a PR firm to post pro-Nike messages not me.

Second, if I were Magness, I would have just kept my mouth shut after Salazar posted his rebuttal. It is only a matter of time until Salazar/Nike post more emails from Salazar to Magness about his coaching abilities and his inappropriate conduct with an athlete. They held these back initially feeling they didn't need to completely humiliate Magness. Now they will come out.

Regarding the letter from Nike terminating his contract. As many have said, this is a standard letter in the corporate world which allows a person to move on without a strike against their job performance. You generally don't break a contract only months into it unless there are serious issues. In this case the issues resided with Magness' performance or Nike would have had him sign a disclosure to keep his mouth shut.

Regarding Epstein's follow up, simply embarrassing. Again he is only rehashing already discredited assertions with word of mouth and no physical evidence. Another poster stated it correctly, game, set and match to Salazar and Nike.

I'm surprised at the number of posts giving anyone the benefit of the doubt here when every other professional sport on the planet seems to be corrupt in any number of ways.

If you read the statement, you'd see that it means that he had authorization to take two courses of prednisone, which is usually used as emergency medicine for asthma flareups. In the statement, Alberto says that only one of these TUE's was used, because Galen didn't have permission until just the night before the race, and by that time he felt better and did not take the prednisone. The other time was indoors and he ended up not competing after his illness until weeks after the treatment in order to make sure that he did not test positive for it. Frankly, the statement provides hard evidence and testimony to refute a LOT of the accusations. I did come away from it seeing that Galen legally takes anti-allergy immunovaccines regularly, is on Advair, an asthma medicine legal since 2010, and takes Alpha Male, as well as the occasional prednisone when the asthma's bad. Apparently, he stopped the thyroid treatment in 2010.

First of all, "Another Option"'s post on page 4 has been the most morally frightening post to me. Reflecting on the points made in that post, I have one more thing to add: There are criticisms that Salazar has not responded to ALL of the accusations leveled against him. Is nothing his? These have been public accusations to which he's responding, not some governing body that is forcing him to reveal his records. His not responding to certain questions, particularly about the Androgel, is less of an admission of guilt to me and more of a privacy issue.

He has already shown evidence that his prescription has been filled at rates consistent with the dosage he has been prescribed to use them. Look, he may be getting it more elsewhere, and he may be a filthy cheater, but he's been much more forthright with his information than he should have to be.

A last point--these doctors can lose their licenses if they've violated any rules. These doctors aren't getting paid more for treating pro runners than anyone else, and Alberto doesn't have the money to put them at ease should things go south. I don't think they're lying or in his pocket.

I find it ironic that on this site and these message boards that the term "TUE" has been made commonplace. The site's administrators have made sure that everyone knew about them. Because of this, people act as though Galen Rupp has been running with a TUE for virtually every race of his pro career. Now we find out there has only been 2 of them in the last 4 years. If I was Salazar I would pay someone to go through every one of the posts on this site and think about lining up the attorneys.

2 in 4 years official TUEs. You failed to account for the magic extra drugs that Salazar magically has access to. Extra drugs that far exceed the documented TUE dosages.
