Boston Marathon is on the 20th (Monday) with a few Aussies on the startline. Anyone got any major predictions/calls for these names?
Women's Isobel Batt-Doyle AUS 2:22:59 (Valencia, 2024)
Izzie's coming off a 68:51 at Marugame Half in February and pacing 25km of Nagoya Marathon in March.
Lisa Weightman* AUS 2:23:15 (Osaka, 2023)
47 years old this year with a 2:29:34 SB at Sydney last year. This is Lisa's 7th world marathon major. Father time may be catching up, but I'm still keen to see what Lisa can do after so long at the highest level.
Men's Patrick Tiernan AUS 2:07:45 (Houston, 2024) Pat's a complete mystery for me. He was banged up again towards the end of 2026 and hasn't raced in the lead-up. He came 11th at Boston last year in 2:08:08
Brady Threlfall is also toeing the line, but is not in the pro fields obviously.
Would love Lisa to smash out a high finish and good time. Her longevity is astounding and she was still stiff to miss out on Paris. Not to bring that up again.
Yep, also really looking forward to seeing what Lisa can do. First outing representing Puma.

What’s the record for all 7 WMM combined times? Does Lisa have a chance of breaking it? Hell, how many men will have run faster for all 7 now that Sydney is included?
Was anyone following the junior championship and managed to watch the U20 1500m that happened and hour ago. Seems Alexander Cameron-Smith was DQed after placing second due to a fall by Charles Barrett. Looked to me that ACS just held his line and Barrett was trying to cut in on space that wasn't there. Can you appeal in a junior race?
I know this is a bit old now but what are people’s opinions on the Bol epo saga. Clearly has good lawyers to help sweep it under the rug. Not to be conspiratorial but would not be surprised if some level of government was assisting this investigation as a means to protect bol’s image/ the greater Sudanese image in aus. Odds of 2 templeton athletes both having positive a sample for epo but was not confirmed from the b sample. My view is that Bol is sus and that templeton is no good either.
It depends what you believe. The general consensus is 'Aussies don't dope'. We just had the Maurie Plant - most know about he and the urine swap thing from years ago. I know what I believe based on the information I have. It's up to you to form an opinion. But it will always be nothing more than an opinion.

After Kieran ran 8:00 for 3k in Feb to win today puts him in good company at still only 17.

Jumping on this to see if anyone knows why Joseph Deng suddenly quit Rinaldi/fast 8 at the start of 2024, ran the Olympics in the same year and then just retired out of nowhere?
Surely it can't all be a massive coincidence that Bol gets "false positive" popped later that year?
Unrelated but speaking of those who vanish anyone know what happened to Celia Sullohern? She was killing it during the comm games in 2018 then went mia. Never made an Olympics. Seemed to be our next big star at the time. Never heard a thing about her.
As for Bol I do like to believe he got screwed fully. But I have no inside knowledge. Does anyone else? As I'm a huge fan of his and he is a great role model. Obviously not if he's not clean. But I will believe he's clean as I want to I guess and unlike others the evidence isn't clear cut. In fact, it makes him look clean.

Mate, this is how misinformation comes about. You give clear time lines, connect some dots between two runners of same origin, yeah yeah, they all look alike hey?
Except....you are talking totally through your arse.
Paris OG was August 24. Bol was tested in October 22, nearly two years earlier, suspended in Jan 23 and exonerated on 1st August 23, more than a year before OG.
Now, as for the testing itself, you need to give up already. The 'B' sample was atypical, not positive, not negative...suspended on suspicion. The 'A' sample was NEGATIVE. Exonerated. There was never ever any positive result.
I had high level access to a certain WADA lab , maybe in Sydney, no longer work so no access, and although testing/samples are under strict chain of custody, I spoke to 'people; about it at the time. There must have been a screw up in collection, splitting etc. The instruments simply measure what they are given. Laywers can't just wave wands or money to make samples give different results
It is now 2026, time to leave Peter Bol alone to run his race.
cheers

Thoughts overall? Brady has been injured so a solid time. Lisa I think it's amazing at her age to still be killing it like this and now being the first to complete all 7 majors, plus world champs and Olympics.
I wouldn't say Izzy and Pat did poorly at all either and can't be too sad right. Pat maybe wanted a little more but has not been racing much and that time and place for Izzy is up there for her. And Boston isn't necessarily slow but the rolling hills can be tough

I think relative to the American runners they did poorly. Pat doesn't seem to be really improving at the moment.

Facts that correct a poster's misleading dates by over 2 years, fact that the 'B' sample (first tested) was 'atypical', NOT POSITIVE NOR NEGATIVE, fact that 'A' sample WAS NEGATIVE.
