Meanwhile, everyone agrees that including the reporter was an egregious mistake.

Including the idiot is not "broadcasting" anything.

The Signal app is preinstalled on all of their phones. CISA literally just recommended senior officials use Signal.

The Signal chat in question literally included the people saying that some topics would need to be discussed in more secure areas because they were classified.

In the hands of someone else it could have been passed on to the targets and at a possible cost in American servicemens' lives. Allies cannot trust American security as a result. This was a major breach of OPSEC with specific details about a military strike before that strike took place. Those details surely would have been classified. It's is that simple.
