We must be looking at different photos because I don't see the water retention you're talking about. With my background in bodybuilding, I'm seeing excellent lean muscle mass with impressive aesthetics. He's got a V-tapor, good biceps & triceps, great delts, excellent pecs & a very rare six-pack for someone that age. Overall, he looks outstanding for 70! Again...I remind you 70 yrs of age!
Did you watch the video on his training & diet? His cardio training is a hard, intense hike up a steep hill every day. On his weight training, he also cuts the rest period between sets to a very short amount of time.
C'mon man, quit picking on Bobby, Jr & embrace his phenomenal fitness level. 😏
Two things
1) ask him out on a date, already
2) A 70 year old desperately trying to look 35 is not “healthy”. Bodybuilders have their own kind of body dysmorphia. Nobody normal looks at RFK and thinks “healthy.” Dude looks like a lobster.
Too funny to ask him out on a date. Lol. I said as a 63 yr old, I would love to look like that & have the senior ladies come a calling 😉 (I'm widowed - 2 grown kids).
So, you're saying seniors using TRT & working out hard trying to look much younger is not healthy? Well, what about all these celebrities on TRT that do, in fact, look very healthy:
You mean the pharmaceutical companies were lying to 23 Million people all this time ?

What could government and RFK Jr et al do?
What else could be done?
The FDA could fast track several promising non-prescription peptides that have shown promise to be as good or better than Ozempic.
LetsRunners might not be aware of these substances, but they already exist and thousands of people are already taking them with success.
Since these substances are already widely available at wellness clinics, the clinic trial could skip phase 1 and 2 and go straight into phase 3. Once the study is done, these substances could be given EUA to produce immediately. Yeah, I know that's not how EUA works... just declare this to be a national emergency and override this law. If anyone objects, say... we're doing it... see ya in court.
NIH could contract to buy these peptides from a small pharma set up specifically to make them. They could then be given to patients for pennies a dose instead of $1,000/month like Ozempic.
People would flock to an OTC peptide that would cost pennies a dose and be as effective as Ozempic.
Sure, there will be barriers. Just overcome them or bypass them. Heck, you're the government... just say, we're going to do this and if you don't like it... see ya in court.

Good for these men for working hard to look the way they want.
There’s no doubt that taking huge doses of test when you’re 70+ is bad for you.
People make all sorts of decisions that aren’t maximally healthy, that’s fine. These people generally don’t claim they’re going to “make America healthy again” after pumping themselves to the gills with roids

Haven’t you spent the last several years railing against the lack of long term testing in the COVID vaccines?
It would be easier to just void the patents on GLP1 drugs and announce that you’re going to fund production and distribution. Not going to go over well with the biotech/pharma sector but at least you’re moving forward with something with safety data.
Our pour 2 billion into an NIH developed patent busting analog that’s pharmacologically nearly identical.

Don’t test our patience on this board Harambe. You know you are a liar and a scammer. Fisky and Dan has been very patient with your erratic transgenderistic behaviour on this board. The final nail on your coffin is when you wake up one day to learn that you have liver or lung cancer due to the long term harmful effects of the vaccines in combination with man made elektramagnetica fields
Physics is the king of sciences and rules over the laws of biology and chemistry which are laws of Physics! Medicine is not a science, it’s a pseudo science and make believe. The word medicine used to mean Jesus divine healing but became Satanic once rockerfella took over!
in strict principle you only need to know physics to know everything including knowing biology and chemistry. And so that means I know chemistry and biology by default.
So you didn't dispute that you are not even original at LRC discussing Elektramagnetico(sic) fields, but rather only parodied Khamis.
If we go further back in mythology, many centuries before Jesus, the word medicine was linked to the Greek mythological figure Medea.
The question remains open whether you know as much about the laws of physics as you say you do, especially in these alleged physical realms of biology and chemistry, and the allegedly not physical realm of the applied science of medicine. It is not enough to understand some of the basic building blocks to understand the nature of something much more complex built out of many of these blocks. The primary school student who understands addition and subtraction of integers is not yet prepared for multi-variate calculus and advanced diffy queues.
You are doing yourself no favors by claiming complete knowledge, yet backing up conspiracies not based on knowledge.
How about I clarify myself. I’m a highly advanced reasoning so hear me out. I believe it’s the same for the one you definitely secret admire: Khamis.
I have relatively completely knowledge compared to the next best dude anywhere on the planet 🌎! That’s what I really mean when I say that. So thanks for asking the question.
in this world, there are 2 types of conspiracies, one that serves the one true Jesus God and the other the serves Satan! Conspiracy per se is neither evil nor good in and of itself just as sex per se is neither one of them per se as well. The space-time nature of sex and the space-time nature of the conspiracy is what makes or breaks God your master!
instead what makes a subject good or bad in space and time is precisely it’s space-time attributes and characteristics, isn’t it? The unique peculiar contents of space and time is what converts sex or conspiracy into good or evil categories. You yourself have championed looking at the individual space-time peculiarities of Shelby Houlihan, Kenyans, Salazar etc before you could come to any conclusion about their doping.
similarly that’s what I do when I come to conclusion about the contents of subjects I adjudicate over including those of conspiracies! I’m no different from you except in terms of masculine boldness and courage. While you chicken out like a kitty cat at the sight of all conspiracies i being Physics Lion King with a majestic mane enter and pass judgement on them morally and responsibly like Hercules!!
man up coward 😒

While RFK Jr has said several times that he's not going to take away access to vaccines, I don't remember any remarks where he has said he would not "go after" Big Pharma.
In fact, he has said several times that he would like to ban direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising. The only other country in the world that allows Big Pharma ads is New Zealand. The only reason I know this trivia is that Kennedy has mentioned it several times in his interviews.
He has stated that he would like to see funds redirected from researching pharma drugs to researching alternative medicine approaches.
He has even pledged to address the conflict of interest in NIH-funded research and drug testing.
He has complained about the revolving door from FDA/CDC execs to cushy board/advisory positions with Big Pharma.
This is a follow-up to my previous post because I didn't want to muddy the water by going off on a different topic.
The CDC has become irrelevant. In 2019, trust in the CDC stood at 85%. By 2023, it had dropped about 1 in 3. As I pointed out time and time again in the COVID vaccine thread, the CDC has shown itself to be woefully incompetent in its primary mission. (Hint: The mission is in the name of the organization!)
The CDC has so completely failed its mission that Musk and Ramaswamy should target it for massive cuts. The CDC has ~15,000 employees and ~6,000 contractors. If the status quo of woeful incompetence is the accepted standard, the CDC could be just as incompetent with 90% fewer employees.

The ban on ads is absolutely necessary. The fact that people are called “prescription drug consumers” gives away the game.

When I was in training, I did my mandatory research block in the immunology lab. My research mentor was a naturopathic doctor (he got his degree in Norway, we don't offer "ND" degrees in US universities), and was working on his PhD in immunology. I helped with some of his studies on animal models of allergic-type asthma. We would go to a homeopathic store, pick up supplements that have labels that would indicate they help in "respiratory health" and test their components on the asthmatic animals. The one I worked on (with him; I am not much of a researcher) was bromelain. It helped! Really showed promise in allergic airway disease.
He approached the company that makes it to see if they would be interested in a clinical study. Their answer was "absolutely not". There's a very straightforward reason; when a product is marketed as a "supplement", it only has to show that it's safe. Then it can be categorized as a "food product", with much less regulatory oversight or hassle. If you're going to do human research, you have to apply for a "investigational drug" permit and register your clinical trial with the FDA. If your product works, now it's a drug(even OTC drugs are regulated for safety, quality control,...etc that food products aren't). If it doesn't work, you now have clinical trial data that proves it's snake oil.
The companies manufacturing these supplements like the system the way it is. They don't want it to be researched. As long as the label says "not meant to diagnose, treat or cure a disease" and "not reviewed by the FDA", you're good to market it as a food product.

Interesting. Thanks for posting this. It's beyond my expertise to recommend how these rules need to be changed, but this approach doesn't seem to be in the best interest of public health.
I think we could agree that when a natural substance provides a benefit, the CDC (remember... it's mission is in its name) should make the public aware that it *might* have benefits.
As far as testing for purity is concerned, it's not a massive obstacle. The private sector can fill that need. I subscribe to ConsumerLab for a modest annual fee. It tests supplements and foods (olive oil, etc) for purity, foreign substances, accurate dosage, freshness, etc.

The only things he’s said he will do are stop the “revolving door” - ok fine if he has that power over the FDA. Generally I’d like my public servants to understand the industry they are regulating but if he wants to kill that, so be it.
The heads of the NIH and FDA, CDC, and Surgeon General are all on the record as pro-vax. The FDA pick is pretty cozy with big pharma (for good reason, the job of the FDA is to get the right drugs approved). The surgeon general is extremely pro vaccine and one was one the loudest COVID people on Fox News.
If RFK gets approved, every appointed position he will interact and negotiate with will be status quo, big pharma. Trump neutered the guy before he even started (but really, the roids did that first).

You clearly don’t know anything about the appointees. They are not going to break the status quo - they exist within it. I think this is good

To be clear. The current regulation is the opposite. You cannot make a medical claim without evidence that meets the FDA standard.
“Might” isn’t evidence. If the FDA changes their rules then you’ll get dozens of products selling water saying “might” help with cancer.
We decided a long time ago that sick people are extremely vulnerable to scams - and for good reason, they are often desperate - I’m not sure why we’d want to roll back to the age of snake oil.
A clinical trial is needed. If you have a supplement that you’re so confident in - you should be able to get funding for the trial.

I posted something to this effect, too. The supplement companies must explicitly state on the label “these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a disease.” That removes their product from being regulated as an OTC medication.
Funding for drug trials is almost always by the companies that are going to make money off of selling the product. NIH doesn’t fund drug trials. Their mission statement is to fund basic science only. (That’s what my mentor was working on.)
Supplement companies in the current regulatory environment are actively DISINCENTIVIZED from doing clinical trials. Hence my mentor (Eric Secor) not being able to get funding to prove whether or not bromelain would work in adult asthma.
Satire based in stupidity isn’t very funny. Problems:
- No intelligent person thinks that most of our health problems (and perhaps especially obesity and lack of fitness) are the fault of doctors or scientists (in or out of HSS)
- No intelligent person thinks that RFK is going to get lazy Americans exercising more and eating less.
- Every intelligent person knows that frauds/incompetents CAN make any bad situation much, much worse.
There is no neutrality in the world. You can either be part of the solution or you're going to be part of the problem. - Eldridge Cleaver
By abdicating their role in keeping Americans healthy, the NIH, CDC, and FDA have become part of the obesity problem.
Here is a perfect example.
Less than 3 months into the pandemic in March 2020, data out of China showed that obesity was a contributing factor in severe covid. In April 2020, a Lancet study linked obesity to severe COVID. By May 2020, the WHO identified obesity as a significant risk factor in COVID.
Fauci had a bully pulpit throughout the covid years. For the first two years, you could not turn on a TV news channel without hearing him bullying everyone to mask up and (once it was available) get vaccinated, but how often did you hear him say... "And for goodness sakes if you're overweight or obese, lose weight because it's a major factor in severe covid."
How often did you hear Fauci say, "lose weight and exercise?" Or Birx. Or the surgeon general?
Don't give me that cr&p about no one would change. Many people were scared out of their minds during covid. They were wearing masks in cars, for goodness sakes! In parks with no one around. Some people would have changed. If only 1 in 100 overweight persons lost weight, that would have been 1.7 million healthier people~!~! If 1 in 10 had lost weight, that's 17 million people.
COVID is effectively over... well, it'll never be completely over... but I'm still outraged at the failure of our health leadership to do anything except kowtow to their Big Pharma overlords.
What could government and RFK Jr et al do?
I think corporations should be incentivized to reduce obesity in employees. Employees should be incentivized to lose weight if they're obese. The airways should be flooded with ads by organizations promoting healthy weight and exercise.
Organizations are currently given a CEI rating to determine their support of workplace equality and diversity. A similar metric could be created to measure corporate support wellness and healthy weight. That metric could be made available on a CDC website, for example.
In fact I think that's such a good idea that I'm going to flesh it out a bit and submit it to the MAHA think-tank. Thanks for giving me the idea! If you see it next year, remember that you saw it on LetsRun first!
That's very interesting selective accountability. Of course, the idea of "obesity accountablilty" during COVID is dumb to begin with, but.....if we ARE playing by those dumb rules:
- Trump had the biggest pulpit, by far. Quotes from him encouraging what you chastise Fauci about? Zip.
- EVERYONE (in addition to Fauci and Birx and the SG) who you chastise WORKED FOR TRUMP. Did he insist on better? (by your definition of better). Apparently not. He certainly could have. He didn't lead them because he didn't care.
- RFK Jr. was a well-know guy back then. No mention of his efforts, either. But he's going to save us, now.
“When you get vaccinated, you not only protect your own health and that of the family but also you contribute to the community health by preventing the spread of the virus throughout the community. In other words, you become a dead end to the virus. And when there are a lot of dead ends around, the virus is not going to go anywhere. And that’s when you get a point that you have a markedly diminished rate of infection in the community.”
