Yeah, when the Ethiopians don't show up that opens up a few places, so the field definitely wasn't the deepest. To be fair though, the 2 Kenyans that finished 8 and 9 - William Kiplagat and Wilson Onsare are pretty serious competition, having PB's of 2:06:50 and 2:06:47, , and so Sell, Culp, and Gilmore showed up and represented when those guys had tough days, and they get the rewards.

That's life.

it's amazing that more props for sell for his fourth place here than goucher's 5th place at world cross which is a much harder event.

On another note... the U.S. women fared well, with times of 2:37 and 2:40. Go ladies!!

this is so stupid! running is the only sport where people actually make this kind of argument. the bashing might be unwarrented, but let's decide that based on logic, not on how fast the basher is!

seriously, do think that when some guy talks smack against kobe on an NBA board that other posters say "i'd like to see you score 70+ in a game!" of course they don't - because it's a given that all of these guys are better athletes than us. if we were better - we'd probably be there - but try attacking his point.

I hear Gouch deserves big ums. i think the difference is that goucher WAS world-class once before, this is new for SELL!!!

Just to clarify, Goucher was 6th not 5th.

Gouchers race was over night, most people didn't see results till the next day and to me it is not nearly as exciting to post 5 hours after the race is over as it is to post 10 minutes later.

Goucher running well is exciting though and hopefully he continues it throughout the outdoor season.

I just re-read this thread. Probably the funiest post of the lot, that got lost during real time.

I'm still not sure why ttc insisted upon posting race projections based on miles to kilos conversions rounded to one decimal place. ttc, if you're still reading this thread, post your email address, I'll send you a spreadsheet that will run the split projections and race pace calculations.
