Does Dave Smith really not tell the 7 who are running they are running until 20 minutes before the race or is the broadcast wrong?
Dave Smith said that yesterday in the press conference. But, I got the feel that he was being hyperbolic about how he has 9 guys he feels are good enough to run. I don't know if I believe that he was really going to wait until right before the race. That is what he said though.
This is true, my wife ran for them years ago and was unsure if she was racing NCAAs until moments before the race.

I am hoping for another Nico x Tuohy win, because they're both my age and their NXN wins were the races that got me into the sport. Last year, the men's and women's team/individual races were all super exciting; Tuohy closing so much on Valby, Nico and Drew pushing hard from the gun, all capped off with a tiebreaker on the men's side. This year, it looks like it could be just as exciting.
im currently in shambles but it was still a great race. Super close women's team race with NC State getting the 3-peat by 1 pt. Valby ran sub-19 at NCAAs, and absolutely crushed the field. Men's field had Graham Blanks making a statement, and both NAU and OK State had really good days.
With Ok State only losing 1 Senior on their men's and 2 on the women's team they both look good for podium finishes and possibly more national titles for the next few years.

The old FloTrack guys Kevin and Gordon used to rank NCAA men's squads based on "How many Alex Maiers are on the team." Alex Maier was considered the gold standard of mid front pack running. Today, OSU had five Alex Maiers.
