You know what would work. Have black kids actually do homework for a change. It's not even preparing for SAT. Contrary to what people think, there is not much room for improvement by coaching. You can't 'trick' the test to giving you the right answer. You need basic education. You can't have a whole section of Baltimore schools with not a single kid having grade level proficiency. But that is on the democrats again. They ruined public education by lowering the standards to below zero so the teachers can get their pay, summer vacation and pension.

For assuming that peoples lives improve for knowing how to read, write and do math? You're right, lets throw more welfare at poor communities like those in Baltimore, that's worked wonders. The cycles of poverty will continue, but at least us whites can pat ourselves on the back for being inclusive and "anti-racist."

You go to a working-class high school, you graduate at the top of your class, you pick up a couple extracurriculars like running and NHS president, you get one of the top SAT scores in the country, you get named a U.S. Presidential Scholar...and you get into the colleges you wanted.

What's so complicated about that?

This would work, but (inner city) schools have completely adopted the woke mindset that 'tests/homework/etc is racist' and that we should 'respect their culture'; they also believe disciplining students (as certain groups tend to be 'overrepresented' in disciplinary actions) is racist so teachers can't have any control.

Judge Roberts was right, AA is based on an ugly stereotype. It assumes that someone with black skin can't compete with someone with white skin. And AA doesn't even assume its because of social economic status. If they did they would use economic status for preferential treatment rather than skin color.

It was sad and racist.

This policy was poorly thought out. Inner city and rural schools tend to have students ranging from abysmal to slightly worse, but the top 10% there will be automatically accepted and they will displace more qualified ones.

In Baltimore, there was someone ranked around the 50th percentile in his class with a 0.13 GPA, and 41% of students there have a GPA under 1.0. Imagine them at UT Austin - they'd either fail immediately or have to switch to something like communications or a grievance studies major.

I just hope and pray that this decision makes our top black students AND 4 and 5 star athletes to start choosing to attend HBCUs!! To see a national trend of our star black athletes going to schools like Howard, Morehouse, Hampton, Florida A &M, NC A &T and Grambling would bring GREAT joy to my heart. Hit those saltines where it hurts!!!!

I don’t think teachers having more power, discipline etc would really fix much. Kids from poor backgrounds, single parents families etc are going to struggle w school, in both rural and urban settings. Their parents are not invested/too busy/not present. Teachers can’t fix that w discipline, tests etc. There might be a few kids that will rise to the top despite their upbringing, but I think this a relatively small number.

I don’t have a good solution. unless someone can get to these kids from a young age and get them and parent(s) to buy into education, i feel that they’ll perpetually be behind in life. I’m sure someone tried this already…?
