A small fracture at this point is surprising from someone that recently ran a marathon every day for 420 days.

If you tape the little toe to the adjacent toe then almost all of the pain can be mitigated.

You can take any performance enhancing drugs you want for this trans con run because it is not against the rules and there is no drug testing. If his "Coach" was smart, he would be on a cocktail of injected vitamins, EPO, testosterone, and corticosteroids to remove the pain and provide superhuman healing powers.

Lying is despicable, but he's been outed, name and reputation have been tarnished, all but his most die hard supporters know he's a cheat, and I'm sure even they have their doubts. His punishment has fit the crime.

I admire his toughness, knowing the record is not going to happen, knowing that run is tainted beyond saving, he's soldiering on, despite appearing to be utterly unprepared for the endeavor.

I hope he doesn't push himself into heat stroke and end up with brain damage or some other horrible thing. On a human level, he has a wife and kid. On a selfish level, it will (unfairly) reflect poorly on this message board that I really enjoy.

Hopefully someone on his crew will be able to convince him to throw in the towel if it appears he may be endangering his long term health.

His fast running stunts probably triggered that, together with a lot of real running in the last week. It will be a long way to New York now.

The rubbing from the toe box of his shoes probably contributed to the avulsion of the small toe in recent days when he actually had to run a decent amount. So cutting the toe boxes off was an act or mercy.

No it was probably just his stupid fast running sprints he did once awhile. The dumbest thing you can do in a TransCon situation.

I have seen a top competitor DNF, 3 days before a TransCon race finished. It was heartbreaking, stupid and totally avoidable at the same time.

In a multiday race you HAVE TOO even out the stress on your legs as much as you can and that happens with the most even pace not with crazy speed bursts.
