This week made me feel like a complete failure.
I sold NVDA and AMD in Sept. If I held, I would be up 30-50% now. Sold TSLA for a loss earlier this year. Jumped in and out of several stocks and cryptos and gotten nowhere. My trading account (Roth) has basically been flat all year between 58-66k. It was actually 80k at the peak in January with small caps then tanked to 60k.
Meanwhile my sister in law, who honestly is not very bright, has made a killing this year from GME, AMC, doge, Tesla, SHIB etc. She and her husband think SHIB can go to $1. They don't know what market cap or PE ratio are. One day when Tesla tanked, I said Nasdaq is dipping because inflation rates rose and she asked "what is Nasdaq?"
I YOLO'd 63k into ETH in May at 2830 average and I'm embarrassed to say this has been my best investment. I staked it so I couldn't sell which gave me automatic diamond hands. It's the only thing I held because I was forced to.
Luckily I didn't mess with my 401k, HSA, my wife's 401k/Roth or my kid's 529. Those are all in index funds and doing really well.
